3.5 Out Of 100? Where's The Rest???

This could alternatively be given a "WTF" title. Seriously. What the F*ck?????

I was getting ready for bed, but decided to browse one the message boards I frequent regularly, since I hadn't been there in awhile. One post caught my eye in particular. Someone had plucked from the AfterElton website a list of the Top 100 Men for 2008. Curious, I checked it out.

Mistake No. 3, my friend, big mistake!

Out of 100 men listed, there were only 3.5 men of color. (I gave the African American community and White community "half" of Wentworth Miller since he acknowledges his Multiracial background but "passes" himself). I should correct myself too, because in a technical sense, there were more men of color. However, they were all Latino men who are also passing, so I didn't include them. There were, I might add, no men listed of Native American or Asian descent. None. Correct me if I'm wrong. There were one or two names I didn't recognize.

It shouldn't surprise me. Not in the least. I guess I put more faith in American Pop Culture Powers-That-Be than I should have. I disagree with more than half the list! I'll sit down this week and come up with my own Top 100, and unlike AfterElton, I won't be biased, but you better believe there'll be more than 3.5 brothers listed. For that matter, they'll be more than 75 Men of Color, so yes, maybe it WILL be biased! Goddammit! AfterElton certainly was...

For anyone interested, I copied the list and pasted it below. Just so people don't think I'm a racist, and I'm not, but I'm proud of all my heritages. June maybe about Gay Pride, but African American/African Descent Pride is 3-6-5!

it seems like in real life, in general, Kutcher is savvier than the average Hollywood folk

Cheyenne Jackson is half-Native American. But, yes, it is disappointing that there weren't more men of different races on the list, and it has generated quite a bit of discussion over at AfterElton.
