Happy St. Patrick's Day

I thought this picture was cute. I actually have a similar tee, some retro distressed deal I picked up at Target. Anyhoo, Big D and I are going to a gathering commemorating the day after he gets home from later. I never really did anything for the day before, so this should be some new and interesting.

Adventures In Gay

Here's a cute little comic someone posted in my timeline on Facebook. The link is within the comic. Go check 'em out. It's adorable at time, yet poignant. Kudos!

This Is Beautiful

This truly, brought a tear to my ear. I'm happy this young person has loving, caring, and accepting parents.... Awesome.

Adam Levine

I'll admit, I'm not the biggest Maroon 5 fan. However, I do lke the words, actions, and deeds from
front man Adam Levine. Caught the blurb above posted on Tumblr. I laughed and had to smile. Adam is correct. Mainstream marriages crash and burn so quickly, but no one ever worries about divorce rate affecting the "holy institution." I digress.

I'm now following Adam's Twitter. I hope he continues to advocate for the Community, if you can loosely call us 'children' a community. That's a topic for another post...

Kudos, Adam!

All In Due Course of Time...

For my beautiful friend, inside and out, who's going thru it right now.

Life is never easy, especially when feel all you best allies and resources are often working against you. I hold on to the old adage that "nothing worth having ever comes easy." Or another, "tough times don't last long, they just seem to."

Watch, wait, be patient, trust, and always have faith in yourself, no matter the circumstance, no matter the naysayer. Be steadfast my young friend.

Fruit Loop

Yeah, I've been called "fruity" in my day. I laugh at it now, but back in the day it bothered me. Suppose that what youth and immaturity is all about, fear and immaturity. At least my youth was.

At forty-four, I've learned to revel and delight in my "off-ness." As Alfred E Newman from Mad Magazine asked, "Why be normal?" Conformity is overrated. LOL.

I'm thankful in my 40s I've FINALLY come into my own and settled into my own skin. I'm happy and that's what counts!

Happy Birthday to moi...

Happy Anniversary

Weilding the Axe turns six years old today! Happy Blog Anniversary. To be honest, I wasn't sure I was going to be able to mark the milestone. Ian just didn't have the passion this year. I took a long hiatus during the summer and before that posts were rather sparse. Yet! I'm still here. I plugged through and persevered.

My original intent was for this space to be an outlet for the side I don't often show. A place to let my guard down and just chill. Over the years I learned it's the wisest course of action to be totally transparent. Yes, I've had my naysayers, but I didn't start this endeavor to placate everyone else. I've had fun, made some friends along the way, and plain & simple, enjoyed the journey!

So what does the Blogging  future hold for yours truly? Good question. time is a big factor. When I don't post for long periods, mainly I'm busy. I hope to rectify that in 2013 and as long as I have a few people willing to share in my adventures, share a comment or two, I'll be happy. I'm glad for the few people that do leave comments and give encouragement.

Since I began, more than a few blogs/bloggers that have fallen by the wayside. Good blogs. Still I have a few of my core group I kept in touch with hanging in there with me. I may not always leave a comment, but trust, I still read. LOL. I read more than I publish on my own joint. Again, something to remedy next year.

So for my bros in blogging who've become more like family, Viktor, Pharoah, Corey, Roger, Mardi, Della, and several others, thanks for the support and the brotherly love. For those who've I've fallen out of favor with, I wish you only peace, no malice nor resentment. Life is too damn short to carry grudges. Move on from it. I have.

I've forgiven and charged ahead with LIFE. As a friend often repeats to, the mantra I constantly tell myself when I'm frustrated,  "forgiveness is not about the forgiven. Its truly about the forgiver. By forgiving you let go of the weight holding you back, moving forward. Resentment is like peeing on yourself. It serves no purpose. Only makes you look messy!"

No truer words have been spoken. LOL.

Thanks for walking with me on the journey so far! Now let's see what's around the bend....

XELLE "Queen" Official Music Video

I forget where I found this vid at, probably one of the 80 dozen Tumblr blogs I follow..OK I'm feeling this song for some off reason. That and the videos have some the best of Rupaul's drag-testants featured. Who knew Mimi Imfurst had it in her???

Speaking of Drag Race All Stars, this has been an interesting competition. I've called it each with the queens to sashay away both weeks. Let's see who goes home tonight. Personally, I love me some Latrice "Muthafuckin" Royale and Manilla Luzon...LATRILLA! I so need them to make it to the top.

Summertime, Sumertime

Even though 2012 has been one crazy and hectic year, I must admit that the summer has been well worth all the bullshit. I've been busy, busy, busy, and I'm lovin' it. Unfortunately there's not going to be time to travel this year, but I'm doing little small activities to keep myself busy. Now the boys in the clip above are really taking advantage of the summer, LOL. Next year. I promise myself that next year (lord Willing) I'll have my groove back. Until then, it's one sweet day at a time.

Hey! Wassup?

You'll pardon my brief absence from blogging, please. Yours truly has been caught up and otherwise detained most of January. And here I thought the new year would usher in changes, yet it seems like old habits (and situations) indeed die hard. No worries. I'm regrouping.

So. 2012. Are you feelin' it yet? I'm still encouraged by what the year has to offer. I'm already plotting my next big adventure and as a suggestion from Wonder Man, Hawaii seems like the destination! My only fear is that's a long as plane ride. But if I can board and fly to LA, whats another few hours to Paradise, eh?

As far as my progress with my weight loss. I've successfully lost 25 lbs since starting, but it hasn't been easy. My next step is joining a gym later this month, but I will admit much trepidation due to irrational fears & insecurities. However, the good thing is I have a buddy system and three of my fellows have dedicated themselves to going with me. OK, good deal. So no mo' excuses, right Ian? Well now there's always room for procrastination! LOL

Kidding, but much like Jean Grey and the Phoenix, I'm taking time to come back and recreate myself as many times as it takes until I get what I want...

Letting Go Of The Old Year

2011 hasn't been a bad year. It's been overall a learning year and I'm proud to say I'm coming away from the last 3-6-5 with more insight and knowledge. There were times I felt like giving up, but perhaps my greatest testimony will be the resiliency gained. Sure I'm closing the old, starting the new, single, but it could be worse. LOL.

I'm looking forward to the challenges 2012 will bring and I hope to tackle many of my so-called failures from this year... lack of trust, vocational aspirations, weight loss, etc... and make those successes! Yep. 2012 is the year I take back.

Moving Onwards

The Christmas Holiday is done and the count down to 2012 is on. I still don't have concrete plans for Saturday. Hm. Been given a few invitations to gatherings, but I haven't decided what to do. I'd like to be out and about. My celebration, however, will be pretty low key. That's typically how it is. I am looking forward to the fresh start 2012 is bringing.

2011 was a learning year. It was neither good nor bad, just an experience overall. I learned more about my strengths and my station in life. I feel fortified that the next stage is secure and that some of my foals will be reached in the coming 365.

I'm ready. Let's get this party started!

Ah, Sweet November

Hopefully, you've recovered from last night's sugar high. Did you get enough treats from your tricks? LOL. Jus' playin. Halloween was a non-event last night. I had only a handful of kids stop by. Guess snow and the cold kept people in doors.

This morning it's a brand new day, new month! November is one of my favorite months. When we have a normal fall, I thoroughly enjoy the gradual change in climate as Winter preps for it's entrance, holidays around the corner, that special time with people I care about. From All Saint's Day to Thanksgiving Day, November just brings a touch of "ahhhhhh" to my life....

Wakey, Wakey

I'm having one those mornings today. Just getting up. LOL I'm so late. I needed to be outta this joint two hours ago, but it's rare I have the luxury to sleep in...or not. I'm jus' saying. Good Morning!

Yaaaaas!

"Hustle, hustle, hustle. Keep it pushin', keep it moving. Ain't gonna stop til I reach the top!"

That's today's mantra. No time to worry about past mistakes or worry about the future. All I really have is this moment... Yup.

-In love & faith,
Ian
