A Little Afternoon Cuteness
I don't if any of you are cat owners, but I know my cats would turn around and devour that bunny. This image is filled with ooey gooey goodness, it's sickening. LOL. When I start at it long enough though, it does bring a smile a just a moment's peace. This has been a hectic work week. Only a few more hours to go, then "Hello, Weekend!"

But know this, whatever the circumstance today, make the most of it and have fun in what you're doing! Be playful. Laugh! Love! Live!'Sides, Ru and her gurls are on tonight! Yay. Definitely somethin' to get me through the day and look forward to tonight.

Heavy Is The Head...

That Wears The Crown.
Hmph. One ain't never told a lie with that expression!
This morning and day appears to be promising. I have a busy agenda at work today, one of which is hiring two new employees to help with astronomical building work load. I already had my interviews with the candidates and have to present my facts to my supervisor this afternoon, then let personnel know. I'm responsible for this decision. Baby, I'm sweatin' bullets over it too!
It hasn't been an easy choice. Each of the candidates interviewed well, but I can only choose two. Hardest still, one interviewee is a FRIEND. I can't play favorites. I really have to separate friendship from professionalism, but dude does have a big chance of grabbing the prize. I just have to let the overall facts convince me if he's best suited for the position. Let things speak for themselves.
Lord. This is my first real test as a supervisor. What if I choose unwisely? And in this economy, good jobs are hard to come by. This is someone's life at stake, possibly! Help me Lord! LOL
Ultimately, I'm grateful for this experience. It's not an obstacle I can't overcome. Usually I'm a good judge of character. As I'm getting ready this morning, I think I already know who I'm selecting, so I'm not gonna invest anymore worry than I have to.
Wish me luck!
In Hope & Faith,
-Ian

Another Work Day
I'm keeping positive this morning that today will not be a repeat of yesterday!
Work was a colossal pain in the arse and I'm not feelin' the vibe to get up, get ready, and drag myself into the lion's den for another round. But, as I said, I'm going to keep a positive outlook and pray all will be copacetic.

Just A Few Hours More

Didn't sleep well last night. I really am not feelin' the mood to get up and go to work. Can't I just turn over and pretend it's Saturday already? Nope! There be bills to pay. Time to get up and earn some paper. *groan*
At least it's FRIDAY!!!

Pride In The Neighbor
This morning on my way to work I caught a sight that you don't see too often in my neck of the woods. Two black men, in their 30's, holding hands, all boo'd up happily, without a care in the world, walking down the street.
Yes, it was a beautiful sight to see. And just when I had given up on open expression of romance here, at least for black men. I see more often with men of other races, but rarely with gay black men in Harrisburg.
This isn't the big city. This is central PA. Attitudes are strange around here. Not necessarily backwards, just conservative. I wouldn't be surprised seeing this in Philly, DC, New York, Atlanta, LA, wherever... Openly displaying same sex affection like that in my conservative, judgmental, one-horse town community? Wow.
All right y'all. I tip my hat. Yeah, I'm gonna hold on to that small moment all day.
Thank you gentlemen,
-Ian

Morning Already?!?!
Lord, I'm tired and I can't believe it's time to get ready for work already. Why does the work day go so sloooooow and the night fly with the wink of an eye? I'll try to do a post from work if there's time. The office has been insane of late.
Yes Virginia, it's time for another vacation. Soon I hope!

Work Ethics
I haven't sat down and written a long post in a while. Really haven't had much to discuss. Personally I'm blaming on this extended "I don't wanna go away" Winter. Even though its officially Spring, the season has been chilly, damp, and downright dreary. There have been a couple days in the 70s...encouraging enough to lift and motivate the spirit, but over all I am so ready for Spring so I can get crackin' on my goals.
Work has been frustrating me. I also have my side business project which is challenging me to step outside of my normal comfort zone, step outside of my normal timid self, and man up with life ways I never anticipated. Its kinda funny how the picture is starting to be revealed with the players in my life now, but that's a story for another post. The main thing is no matter how tired I am, how over worked I feel, I'm not giving up. I have a long, long, loooooooong journey ahead of me, but in the end, it'll pay off. The reward will be not the destination, but the adventure in-between.
I'm learning more about myself in the first few months of 2011 then I have in the past umpteen years of therapy. Ha! Who says work ain't good for the soul every now and then?

Monday Promises
Can't believe the weekend is over?!?! And er ah, where did you go? What did I do? No really, I had a pretty productive weekend and my Monday is actually shaping up to be pretty productive as well. I hope all your adventures this week are promising.
Hopefully this evening I will have time to sit down and list out the goals I've written out for myself. Time seems to be the one thing I seem to be losing lately rather than gaining. Hmph. Alright peeps. Gotta go to work. I might try to sneak a post in during the day. Until then.

Eagles Are Gay?

My friend E.J. specifically emailed this picture for me to post on the blog. He obviously thought it amusing enough to send to me. Hmm. I can't quite make out who the players are in that pictures, but I do have it on good authority most of the players are straight. My (female) cousin was briefly dating one of the Eagles awhile back. Shhh, I can't tell you who, but he was hot!
E.J.'s passionate about his football and hates the Eagles. Of course what does he really know, being he's a Cowboys fan!!!! (Just kidding E.J.)
My team? I prefer the Black and Gold of Steeltown, USA: Pittsburgh!
Anyway, I've gotta dash outta here. I need to be Uptown (Midtown?) in about an hour and I still need to drop some bills of at the Post Office. I should be home around 10 so I can blog about all the cute guys I was scoping out. Maybe I'll even have a capture or two from my cell phone camera.

Making the Journey More Amusing

Sometimes I think my morning work commute could make a best selling novel, a tale of the truly bizarre.
This morning I stopped to purchase a newspaper, a diet Pepsi and a pack of smokes before heading out for work. As I entered the convenience store I took notice of a tall brother standing at the register waiting in line to be rung up. He seemed rather odd and I'm ashamed to admit I became a little suspicious of him. Not because he was black, but there was something extremely off about him. I could place my finger on it at the time; still can't. I wasn't afraid for my safety, I know how to handle myself and how to be inconspicuous if needed, but his odd appearance and mannerisms were enough to be on edge. I didn't want to be near him in case he was a nut job off the streets. Another local convenience store was robbed in my area recently, which is truly amazing, given I literally live right next to the township police department. Crime is definitely on the rise.

Forgive my poor description skills, but "brutha man" was a tall, lanky, clay colored complexion man of indeterminate age. His appearance was of someone trying to look much younger than what he was. He wasn't very successful. His attempt was something in his mid 20s and I gather he he probably was in his mid to late 40s, if not his early 50s. In both ears were thick diamond stud earrings and a silver bracelet was strapped across his one wrist, with the other having some gaudy bauble dangling from his arm. "OK," I thought to myself, "If my friend here is gonna rob the place, at least I know he's family!" Brutha-man completed his ensemble with a silver rope necklace and and over sized Jackie-O sunglasses. On top of his head was a Yankees ball call covering a shock of orange colored hair, which hand traces of silver and grey around the edges and the nape of his neck. The hair, naturally, had to have been dyed. "Oh honey you are deep in denial about your real age," I again thought to myself.

My oddly dressed, deep in age denial friend, had a slightly nice body for being lanky. His was lean and sinewy, with muscular arms. However, when I got a closer view of his face, he reminded me of some crack-heads I've known. (I hate to judge, I just got that vibe. I know several crackerjacks that trick frequently for their shit. Sad.) His face was beat-down, definitely not attractive in any sense to me. Perhaps once upon a time, but not today. His clothes fit well, revealing just enough ass cleavage to reinforce his a card carrying homo.

I'm watching him cashing out, waiting patiently 'cause I hadn't yet had my morning smoke, jonesing for my nicotine. He spoke to the Pakistani cashier and his voice sound scratchy and high pitched. Definitely sounded like some junkies I've known. The proprietor told him to have a nice day.

"Hmm? What's that? Have a blessed day? Huh?" asked the suspect junkie.
"No, no, no, sir. I say have a GREAT day." corrected the store owner, obviously a bit uncomfortable and showing sings he wanted the patron out of the store as much as I did.
"OOOOOOH! OK. You too!" squawked the anomaly and I watched him sashay out the door. Interesting. From first glance, I knew instantly he was gay, but I didn't realize how over the top gay. DAAYYYYYMMMN! When some men go queer, they really go for the full statement, don't they. LOL. Again, I'm not judging, just amused. The later could be a statement about my own insecurities, but I'm just not a big fan of overly exaggerated, effeminate men. I'm not. I hate the typical gay black queenly stereotype. I'm not hating on them, just the stereotype tends to often be heaped on gay black men. Traditionally gay black men are assigned to two groupings, the over hyped, butch masculine types or the swishy, Lamar-esque queens. (For those not familiar with "Lamar," think the gay character from Revenge of the Nerds movies from the 80s.)
So where does that put me? Ah, yes. The reoccurring theme in my life is I'm neither-nor. At least I had some laughs driving before hitting the punch card.
