Hunting Season

Like quite a few shows that are taking people by storm (Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead) I've yet to jump that bandwagon. I've soem positive things about Hunting Season, but have not made the effort to commit. One, I just don't have time to get sucked into one more television program. Two, the last show I got really hyped about, DTLA, turned out to be a huge disappointment. Three, did I mention I just don't have time to be watching that much television?

I need to stay current with thing, but like many of my addictions, TV is one that takes over my life if I'm not careful. So, maybe if the program lasts a minute, I'll start. Four, I suppose, isn't this a online only program? Lord, with all my social networking media... Blogger, Tumblr, Twitter, Facebogger...I don't need one more item on my Interwebs palate neither!!!

Anyone seen this? It is worth watching? Or is it only good for the few peen clips that have been released and nothing more? Do tell. Since the few shows I do watch are being cancelled left and right, I need some mindless brain candy to replace them.

Easter Season

So Holy Week starts tomorrow. Hm, how do I feel about that? Not sure. Religion and I are having difference of opinions in my middle years. It's not that I believe, but God's chosen some times leave a bad taste in one's mouth. Ah, but there is a huge chasm between being faithful and being religious. I wish people would just be kind to one another, loving and forgiving. Is that too much to ask?

Why does it seem Easter is the lesser of the big two Christian holidays? Without Easter, Christmas becomes unimportant, just another day. I think because folks have not taken the message of forgiveness and redemption to heart is but one reason. If we tried to be forgiving, perhaps our big blue marble would be a happier Earth?

I don't have the answers, only questions. Maybe this week some will be answered, eh?

The Word according to St. John...

Amen. I don't care if it's one of the Twilight novels, have at least one book. So many people don't bother to read anymore. Why? Have we become that lazy as a society???

Is it Love?

So, Self finds himself kinda, sorta falling for my dude.  I dunno if I should be elated or scared shitless, I don't have the best track record when it comes to relationships. And so far, neither of us have used the "L" word, which is a good thing I s'pose. Hell, we haven't even declared ourselves as a couple yet. We're casually seeing one another. I'm also seeing someone else too... So really, am I in love with Big D?  Possibly. I'm having a good time when we're together and it does feel oh so right....

Hmm. That's the question of the hour. I like him, fo' sure, but I'm sure I'm ready to trust myself to a commitment yet. Jaded? No, just mindful.

Developments as they happen....

Great Hera!

All this talk about Wonder Woman these days, I guess I'm starting to be a fan. Kinda. I'm a Marvel Man personally. DC Universe always seemed a little dry and dark. So what's the latest 411 on the Wonder Woman projects???

Polar Plunge

Every New Year's there's a local Polar Bear Group that takes the plunge into the cold Susquehanna River. I've never done it myself, but I've witnessed it. I always say to myself, "insane people." A friend chastised and admonished, "don't knock it until you try it brosef." Hmph. Don't you know there's hypothermia?!?!? Eeek!

Well, maybe I shouldn't dismiss the activity too soon. I don't get the excitement to being freezing cold, but there's gonna be Polar Plunge for charity I've been asked to donate or participate...Um. Dear me. I'm broke as a joke, so I'm thinking I might do it. It can be tan item off my bucket list! Not that jumping in cold ass water ever was, but you only live once...

Am I insane?!??! LOL

Wow! I've been nominated for an award! Trés Cool. I've been nominated to the Liebster Award. by ♫Musique's Poetry♫ Blog. I feel honored. well, I suppose I have to nominate some blogs here. Was raised in a Baptist-Catholic household, but divorced myself from the label "Christian" a few years ago because most of them are NOT Christ-like. 6. Boxers.

      My Questions to you:
      1. What's your favorite color?
      2. What would be your last supper meal if you knew were going to die and had time to plan?
      3. What was the last good book you read?
      4. Do you believe we are "alone" in the Universe?
      5. Do you believe there is hope for Bipartisanship in Washington??? LOL
      6. What was your favorite treat as a child?
      7. Oatmeal, grits, cream o' wheat, or none of the above?
      8. Supposedly we all have one. Have you ever met your twin?

      Really Now?

"If U got a long dick like my man, God has blessed U with a special tool U can't get in the stores. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Holla!"

A friend of mine posted this to his Facebook page. Bemused at first, seriousness crept in, and I began to not laugh so much. I mean really? Is that all that there is to gay life for my friend, just a big dick attached to a body. So you don't care about deep convos before fallin' asleep? No humor? No laughs? No time enjoyin' one another's company? All that matters is inches in his pants? Huh.

Now don't get me wrong. I do believe a dick is a beautiful thang, in any shape or size. My question is what do you do when not using the salami? Burp it and put it bed? Maybe I'm having one of those uppity mid-life moments again. LOL Been having those a lot lately. Staring youth in the face and shaking my head, not necessarily in disgust, but in disbelief. Then again, I wonder... Was I ever that conceited at his age (22) ????

Naaaaah. I bet I was worse! LOL

      Question of the Day

How do you feel about this photo? I spotted this on someone else's blog and I felt more than squeamish. But perhaps I'm being overly sensitive? Thoughts?

      Coming Home To Roost

Poor Herman. "Brutha" just can't catch a break. But then as I've heard, he shouldn't blame racism, right? Hmph. I've kept my mouth shut until now.

Until his scandal came out the woodwork, I seriously thought the Party of Hate might nominate Cain as their presidential nominee, but with evidence pointing information about Cain's alleged harassment improprieties was released from someone in his own party...well I guess they were trying to make sure that doesn't happen.

For the most, I ignore Herman Cain. In contest between him and Obama, does Cain honestly believe he'd beat 44? HONESTLY? I'm jus' asking the question. If he says 'yes," there's definitely an inflated ego goin' on, IMHO.

So, will Herman bounce back from all of this? Will he achieve the golden prize of the GOP nomination? As a friend of mine is apt to say, "All is yet to be revealed....."

      QOTD: Things That Go Boo

Do you believe in ghosts? Spirits? Thangs that go bump in the night? I' do. I've seen a few in my day too. Rule number one, don't mess with stuff you don't understand...especially this time of the year.

      Got it? Good.

      Any way the wind blows

Last week wasn't a good week. I'd almost say it was one of the worst for me. Things lately have been cropping up that I don't understand or am at a loss for explanation. I find myself confused and demystified by life and wondering where my place is in the grand cosmic scheme of things. Perhaps its a moment of mid-life crisis, but it feels isolating. Very lonely.I'm trying to focus on the positive aspects I have going on, but which each positive a thousand negatives rise from the depths of my memory and past and all I feel is a profound sense of shame. What's going on?

I'm not sure what triggered it, but I have some clue as to the solution. The solutions cuts to the core of who I am, or at least think I am, and I realize I need to do some soul searching. Then again, I also believe I know where the restlessness started...an innocence delving into fortune telling. A simple question returned by a very complex answer. I didn't like the answer. Perhaps that's why folks should stay away from the Tarot. Sometimes the answers you seek aren't meant to be revealed all at once. I know I'm rambling, but too is on my mind...

      Quick Thoughts...

I overslept this morning so I'm in a bit of a rush, but here we go....

Last night on the way home from work I was listening to John King on Sirius CNN. They were talking about the Republican presidential candidates and their feelings regarding immigration, illegal immigrants, and what needs to be done about the situation. The whole while they were discussing the issue, I sat and thought, OK this is only about Mexico, not Canada. But why?

No disrespect towards our brothers to the north, last I recalled no one ever suggested building 16 feet high barbed-wire fences stretching the length of the Northern Frontier Border? Why are we so hung up about Illegal Mexicans, like they're the dirt of the Western Hemisphere? IDK. I wish I had time to expound on my question. I know part of the problem is people feel illegals come and steal jobs from Americans, but let's be honest a moment! Most Illegals Immigrants take jobs that SOME feel are beneath them anyway. The other issue people feel illegals are leeching of the system.... blah, blah, blah.

      I just don't understand.

George Michael - Praying For Time

"These are the days of the empty hand
Oh you hold on to what you can
And charity is a coat you wear twice a year

This is the year of the guilty man
      Your television takes a stand
And you find that what was over there is over here

So you scream from behind your door
Say what's mine is mine and not yours
I may have too much but I'll take my chances
      'Cause God's stopped keeping score
And you cling to the things they sold you
Did you cover your eyes when they told you
      That he can't come back
'Cause he has no children to come back for"

Twenty one years later and this song still speaks to me. I wonder if folks do get the message?

      In love & faith..

      West Coast Perspective

Tomorrow will mark a week that I've been home from my trip to the West Coast. After taking some time to digest what happened, I'm ready to write up my review.

So much occurred, some good, some not-so good, but all a learning experience. I've decided to divide the post into several parts and write up an analysis of what I gained. Below are the main topics I wish to highlight:

      • Fly The Friendly Skies!
      • Friendship & Brotherhood
      • Fathers & Sons
      • The Cards Speak
      • You're Opinion Of Me Is Not My Business
      • Going & Coming Home
Knowing it takes me forever to get to point, I figured it'll be easier slicing up my thoughts into multiple posts. Overall, the trip was a success and I came home with a new attitude...

      In Joy and Hope,
      -Ian

      Thunderstorms of Life

All this week I've been thinking about what I wanted to post for my final post for the blog...this ain't it..but life has just been kicking my ass again. Not in that I'm down and out way, but definitely in the Universe really trying to get my attention way. Seems like every choice or decision I make lately or within in 2011 has come into question. I'm not sure wassup, but I'm at the point I'm feeling annoyed. Annoyed because its a path I have to walk alone. I've attempted to reach to friends and family, but when I sit back think, there's not a damn thing they really can do.

      So... we'll see.
