Enough Is Enough

So today the new budget cuts are supposed to take affect. Lord Jesus, another American crisis and no realistic measures to avoid impending doom. This has to stop!

I try not to get too political on the blog only because politics frustrate the hell out of me. Lately the situation with the American government is just intense partisanship and nothing is getting done. We reach cliffs, deadlines, and whatnot and for what? Congress seems unable or unwilling rather, to do anything to help the common Joe. I hate to admit too, it's not just the Republicans.

I'm a 100% loyal card carrying Democrat. I always will be. I support the Party because I believe their agenda falls most in line with my personal beliefs and values. However, I'm a bit miffed that my party always appears to kowtow to the other side of the aisle. Republicans know how to achieve their ambitions and drag shit out, causing constant gridlock. I think its far past time for Democrats to learn from their political opponents and fight just as tenaciously and dirty. Please. With pay checks getting smaller, prices for gas, groceries, and utilities growing, I don't think the public can suffer much more of Washington's ineptitude...

Can the bullshit. Get the Job done!

Fuckin' A. Please No Mo'

I really can't stand hearing or seeing anything about Justin Beiber. Like Kim Kardashian, He's one of those annoying celebrities I wish would emigrate to some other country in the Eastern Hemisphere and never return.

Next, I'm adding Ryan Seacrest, One Direction, Kanye West, and probably anyone from the Bravo TV channel (except for Nene and Andy Cohen. Love them!!!!) to the list.

Cinema 2013?

Out of all the movies I saw last year, I think Spider-Man was the biggest disappointment. I felt a sleep on the damn thing. IMHO, it was just a boring reboot. Marvel, come, be more creative and stop with rebooting all the damn original comic projects! I don't need a new X-Men, Fantastic Four, or who have you everything the principle actor(s) quit the project! That goes for whoever makes Transformers too! Shia knew what the hell he was doing went he left!

With that Rant out of the way, I am looking forward to the second installment of Star Trek, LOL

Can We Stop, Just Stop

Enough already! The media sensationalization of this story has begun to work my last nerve. I no longer care if this young man is gay, straight, was hoaxed, or had a secret part in this. If anything is evident, Manti T'eo is an attention whore who got caught up in some bullshit and we all have to suffer now... I'm just tired of hearing about it every 10 seconds.

Even Don Lemon got into the act by having one of the creators from MTV's Catfish on yesterday. Et tứ, Donny? Say it ain't so!

Seriously! Can we please stop talking about this mess? I never cared to begin with!

Before The Fall

Remember Stephen Baldwin back in the day?  In the days of his movie Threesome??? Before he became a fat, bloated, ignorant, religious bigot?!?!? Yeah.

Previously, Stephan was sexy. Currently? Stephen can fall off the Earth in the pit of Hell.

Until the End of Time....

Hmmm, so true! Don't get me wrong, but Matt Smith's incarnation of the Doctor tends to be grandiose and crest falls quickly. HOWEVER, he's no Christopher Eccleston! Worse Doctor EVER in my opinion. Smarmy, ignorant, rude, and just un-Doctorlike, I digress.

Fratchet Rachett Frakkin'Thingamajiggy!

Lawdhavmercy! Well somehow, some way, my computer has gotten a virus and I've been rasslin' with the damn thing since the weekend trying to get it working properly.

It all started when I tried to update my Anti-virus software and it's been pullin' and grittin' teeth ever since. Fortunately, I do a regular back-up of my important documents on the external hard drives. Accessing the Internet has been problematic. Both IE and Firefox refuse to load. THANKFULLY, I also have Safari to browse the web. Only problem all my bookmarks are in the Firefox browser. So I gotta run my poor laptop over to a friend who works in IT. Praying he can root out my virus woes...

Posting maybe light for the next couple days.

Do U, Be U!

Clot In The Plot

So how did you feel about last night's ep of True Blood? Don't be shy, be honest. Please tell me I'm not the only Negro out there who walked away irritated? Maybe I'm just in a mood lately, but last night the show just worked my damn nerves! Just wasn't feelin' it.

Lord
, where to start?

  • Lafayette and Jesus. OK these two lately, IMHO, have become really boring. I could watch reruns of Will & Grace and feel more sexual chemistry than I have from Laff and Jeez. I'm sooooooo not believing their relationship this season, AT ALL!!!! Um, have a sex scene or two or three or four or more! Everyone else in Bon Temps makes time for sex dammit. OK? Real gay couples at least touch in a damn while, but never seems to happen in Bon Temps Louisiana. Aw, hell no it don't!
  • Jesus' Grandfather. Why the implication his grandfather knocked up some seemingly underage woman? Really???
  • I see Tara's on the verge of returning to the whiny, sniveling, "I-can't-handle-life" character again. Oh DEAR JESUS (and not Lafayette's man neither)!!!! OK Tara. Bitch, you a Black woman living in the South. Louisiana. Um, I have it on good authority Southern women are strong and resilient. Shut the fuck up with your complaining, go back to New Orleans and be happy with the life you made with your woman. [Highlight: I am glad you came over to our team this season!]
  • Arlene Bellefleur's "You people" comment. I know the shit was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but it wasn't funny! I thought Lettie Mae Thorton-Daniels was about to whup her ass.
  • Now, speaking of Lettie Mae. I was glad to see you back shug, but seriously? Did you and your new husband, Rev. Daniels, really need to coon it up as bad as you did? That whole scene was just mess.
  • The Black Vampire Sheriff. Rounding out my diatribe I was happy to see that HANDSOME brutha who was one of King Bill's sheriffs, but then horribly disappointed when True Blood practically castrated the character. None only did he get debased in front of his peers for his lack of knowledge of vampires being Priests in the Middle Ages but Good King Bill grabs him by the throat, like he was his " whippin' boy." Seriously not cute!!! Why did the black vampire have to look like the idiot and be the example? Whyyyyyyy? I know Bill is the Vampire King, but he didn't get physical with any of the other white and Latino vamps in the room, nor we're any of them portrayed "uneducated" or "naive." This undertone hit hardest with me and if you weren't careful, I'm sure folks missed it. Maybe not. I haven't seen any of my fellow blogger's reactions to last night yet.....
So there you have it. I was none too happy with TB in the least. It was tired. The annoying stereotypes and bullshit put in a funk with my crew of Vamps, Wolves and Shifters...My least favorite episode thus far. Of course, I'll keep watching though.

On a side note, I will confess I did enjoy seeing Eric Northman shirtless here and there. Didn't realize how hot he was until this season!

Are You Sirius?!?!?!

Hmm. My Satellite radio service has left me feeling a bit perturbed, dammit. Why the Hell do they censor songs? I was listenin' the other day and all the songs edited all the "foul language" out. Really?!??!

This is PAY radio! Why is it the news talk stations on Sirius can say fuck, shit, bitch, ass, etc, etc, etc... but my favorite hip hop song comes on and sounds like grade school nursery rhyme?

Now that's some bullshizzz.

Just Phine?

If I were just phine,
I would hope I would treat all my brothers with
dignity and respect,
love them for who they are
treasure them for all the things they are not

If u was just phine
I would hope u would conduct yo'self in a way
that brought pride and adulation on your foreparents
not tarnish or sully their name

See,
a real sexy man
respects that some men are different
diffent sizes and shapes
hues and shades
that some have issues
that run deep as the Mississippi
if only
you was that person,
but you're not!

Walk a mile in another man's shoes
that's what I was always told
but there a moments
when I despise this niggas, nikkas, and whatevah thug
inappropriate name they wanna subscribe too
and yes you homo faggots boys,
most especially you

Why you always gotta be truning your nose up in tha air
actin' as if I am shit beneath your toes
why you act like you never had a mama
teach you better 'an that
You know you grandmama would be shaking her head
She accepted your ass.
so why you can except me?
Oh I forgot,
God gave you a lil more extra than me.
Gotcha.

Yeah fuckas,
I'm big, fat, a bitch sometimes
but I'm still a person,
why can you be real wit yo'self?
For real, for real?
See listen baby boy
your big dig is just that
them curves you got accentuating your frame
ain't shit if you don't have brains in between yo ears.

Oh wait,
but you think you do.
My bad.
OK, maybe you can articulate a sentence or two,
word!
But you are arrogant.
Stuck up
conceited
full of yo'self
Mr. Self Potification at your damn best
and while others will bow down
worship at the font of your glory
I chose to stand apart
kiss my mutha fuckin' ass
Like B says...
Bitch Boo Bye.

I invest no more time in you
none.
See, spent my whole life feelin' frustrated
cause I wasn't like you
whether cause I was thick
or cause God BLESSED me with love for a man
there was always sumthin.
But now,
I realize y'all just some tired
weak-minded individuals
and your look ain't gonna last forever
Uh uhnt
and someday
some man gon' look atchu
the same way you look at me
and I wanna be there
standing in the wings
laughin my muthafuckin' faggot ass
at your embarrassment

Bitch
You done piss'd me off for the last time
now step
git gone
I got better people to love
better men to respect
starting with myself
Ole Ian's gonna just fine...

I Wanna

So you wanna read a deeper side to Ian than what ya know? OK, stealing a page from my mentor, here we go. Tame by comparison, but a post you'd expect from me.

I wanna...

Get fuckin' sloppy drunk. So goddamn drunk, it''ll put any drunken episode from college to shame.

Fuck like I did when I was twenty. Fuck long and hard, all fuckin' night long. Go the hell to sleep, wake up with another fuckin' hard on, and fuck for a couple more hours, sleep, start process again.

Fuck my ex boyfriend Napoleon, then spit on his fuckin' face for all the bullshit he put me through. Yeah, I'm remembering the one year anniversary of our FAAAAABULOUS break up is next week.

Get stoned.

Fuck or be fucked by probably every black man I've laid eyes on in the last 24 hours. I'm that horny.

Act like I don' give a shit like Mister Bigshot who fuckin called me fat. Fuck you asshole. Lil dick muthafucka. People talk. You might got the body, but you got A BABY DICK!

Understand why the hell people are put on this Earth simply to cause pain, strife, and misery for everyone else. Seriously God, why?

Know how not to give a shit about what other people think and just do my thing.

Go to the White Party in New York and then Fire Island Black Out...

have Money! Tired of being broke!

Piss down the throats of all the fuckin' homophobes and then shove my fat ass cock up their ass so they know what it really means to get screwed over!

Move to some place where their are more out and proud Gay Black Men.

Suck W, X, Y, and Z's dicks till they bust a nutt all over my body. (No names here, I ain't that ig. Ask me, I might tell you though).

Redo my childhood, cause it really BLEW.

Punch a couple people in the face just for the principle they piss me off.

Thank REAL people in my life that have been kind and generous.

Have all these GODDAMN CLOSETED MUTHAS come out already. Grow a pair. If more of you were out, then life would be easier for the little people like me.

See my daddy again, because when died, we weren't speaking...

Apologize for the people I hurt that I do care about and have their forgiveness.

Fuck! (I'm horny. Can u tell???)

the fat lady (man really) is about to sing...

no pretty pictures tonight. no capitalization. hell maybe even no proofreading. today has sucked, pure and simple. i'm still reeling from my embarrassing moment from earlier and not happy with myself. i'm perfectly mortified and really wanna crawl in a hole and the earth plowed over me. one thing is clear, i'm soooo done with any attempting to get the things i want. so if they're meant to be, somebody else will have to hand them to me on a silver platter, and we all know the chances of that happening. i really do grow weary of struggling and failing.

grumpy? yes i am. disappointed? you know it! ashamed? to the core. i don't know how i can bring myself to speak to the guy again because i feel like such an asshole. and i was thinking we were on the same wavelength...shah. fucking idiot i am. i told ya, bad homo. bad homo am i.

i officially resign and am giving up. well maybe not, but its what i'm feeling currently. tired. tired. and more fucking tired of jumping through hoops looking for what everyone else has, stupid companionship. finding a mate sucks!

Rise Up Black Television

Continuing this morning's commentary on the state of African American media and entertainment. For the first blurb, go here....

I find it interesting in the radio spectrum there seems to be a bevvy of programs to select from. We have Michael Baisden, Tom Joyner, Steve Harvey, Yolanda Adams, Wendy Williams, The Ride with Doug (Banks) & Dede (McGuire), just to name a few. So what wrong broadcast television? Can't someone get quality programming for us to watch? You can't tell me some celebrity couldn't match, dollar for dollar, and create a network or networks, to showcase African American talent? Real, decent, comedies, dramas, and serials for People of Color?

But Ian, you started off this commentary by slamming Terry Perry's effort. What up with that?

OK, OK, OK. You caught me dead to rights wrong. I did criticize Tyler, but not for his efforts. You're right, Tyler and Lionsgate are trying. But what about the other African American elite? The HollyWEIRD Black Royalty? Hm? Much as I love Will and Jada, can't they throw a few dollars in the collection plate? And how about some of our bruhs in sports? No naming names. Please don't get me started. Instead of shooting yourselves in the leg, cheating on your wives, dog fighting, or creeping on the crawl, put that time and energy you wasting back into the community. Invest in us like somebody invested in you...

Now, boys and girls, I'm not talking about er'rybody. No. Some people are subsidizing to the cause. Doing it anonymously. Not everything needs to be done by sight. But for every one brutha or sistah contributing to the cause, how many aren't? Don't let naysayers more can't be done. Doesn't Oprah own Oxygen Network? Really. People let's be creative. Aren't you tired of watching the same ole ghetto fabulous programming on BET? Sick of the stupid trash that's thrown at us, force fed to us, because that's all there is?

While some networks have tried, I'm sorry, The Real Housewives Of Atlanta (Bravo), I Love New York or Flava of Love (both VH1), From G's to Gents (MTV), 106 and Park, Hell Date, Baldwin Hills or College Hill (all BET) are gonna cut it!
Call me a television snob. It's true, I am, but I readily admit to watching all the above mentioned...Hell yeah...I loves me some garbage TV! Where else am I gonna get my lesson in the Stanky leg and such? Certainly not here in Pennsylvania Dutch Country! Willkommen! Wie bist du?

And to be sure, I do watch some programs their sleaze factor. Honey, do you honestly think I have anything in common with any of the peeps on College Hill, aside from my skin color? Really? Do you? Nope. I'm a middle aged homo, out on the chicken hawk thug watch, scoping out the fresh bruhs, jealous of where they at in life, what they're accomplishing.

Speaking of College Hill a moment, I know y'all caught Mr. Jones' picture post over on Surrealistically Speaking, the other day, right? Don't know where he found Dorian (CH: ATL) all undressed down like that (not the pix to the right, follow the link), but man...shivers down my spine...sexual fluster...heat flash, heart palpitations, and..... Oh did I just type that? LOL. Oops my bad. What exactly was I saying now???

Maybe I need to step of the soap box and collect myself half a mo',

Your Game Commentary

The other night my parents and I were watching television together when a commercial came on advertising the new season of Meet The Browns. Innocently enough, foolishly, I made the remark I thought neither it nor the show that spawned Browns, House of Payne, were all that funny. Simple enough statement right? Wrong. Oh Lawd! My parents done gon' on a trip, and got defensive! And real quick.

"Why because it's BLACK?"

Huh? What? Umm, nooooooo. What does that have to do with the price of oil in Saudi Arabia?

Skipping over the conflicted race messages in my family, save that for another post, I just don't find either House of Payne or Meet The Browns humorous. They're cheap imitations of comedy entertainment, based on a "Three's Company"-esque style, watered down and spoon fed to the African American community. Love it or leave it. Leave it! I've never found stupid sitcoms particularly entertaining. I don't care both ventures are backed by Tyler Perry. For the same argument folk have over the Madea movies, I have for black television programming today. It's same old, stereotypical, tired gags, line, and routine reminiscent of Stepin Fetchit. Harsh opinion, but so true.

Maybe it's just me? But is it wrong to want, to hold, to demand, our shows in be held in a higher calibre similar to mainstream media and programming. Why do we have to look like the bottom of the heap? Where is our Black Grey's Anatomy? Our Black CSI? Our Black Law & Order, 24, House, etc. etc? Why is it black entertainment is confined to the same old sitcoms, different names, but same situations and lame ass gags? Really, I wanna know. And I won't throw in the subject of Reality TV. That old mess is just plantation mentally in it's most ignorant, purest form. Hint Holllyweird, 1865 has come and gone! Let my people go!

What few shows are on-air seem portray the worst of the black community. I'll pick on a show I do enjoy, which I still think is the same tired shiggety dressed up for a new generation, the CW Network's The Game.

Do I need to rehash it for you why it's so tired? Address the problems with the CW Network? Then again, while I wanna complain, if it weren't for the CW (née The WB Network) I doubt mainstream television would have regular black programming. No other network has made an effort to produce shows for African Americans. But even still, CW?!?! What up with you? The Girlfriend's spin-off leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth. Is this the best television the-Powers-that-be, have to supply black audiences?

Synopsis of every episode of The Game, without knowing the individual storylines.... biracial "black" man athlete (don't hate, I loves me some Coby), of course married to a white woman, cheap, bitter, and angry. There divaesque single mother ghetto girl tryin' to get hers and prove something to somebody. Her immature, spoiled, pampered "playa" son who reinforces every single misogynistic attitude Black men are accused of having...money hungry, no sense of morality, decency, irreverence, lack of common sense...and last, but certainly not least, the Christian boy, trying to be all grow'd up, trying to keep up with his boys, frontin', who can't keep it in his pants long enough to know a good thing when he's got, only in the end to get another woman pregnant....yadda, yadda, yadda.{Thank you Jerry Seinfeld for that lexicon added to our language}. Need I go on?

Ugh.

Make no mistake, I tune into The Game regularly. I was rooting for Jason and Kelly to get back together, stupid as I think they are together, I want Tasha to make her impact, do her thang, want Malik to become a real man and leggo his tired ways, want Derwin and Melanie to get their shit straight for reals this time....

Yeah, OK.
I watch. Sue me, but it still doesn't invalidate my argument. If you hungry, but hate liverwurst sandwiches, but you ain't ate fo' six months, are you honestly gonna turn down that liverwurst? Honestly? Use the analogy with Black television. If what's current broadcast, all that's on the table, what choices do we have unless we demand for better...

Got Racism?

Yeah effing right!

My ass.

Lawdhavmercy! Ian's on a militant tear this morning.Tired of the "isms" today already...Sexism, Racism, Homophobia, Obamaphobia...and it's only 6:30 in the AM.
Oh Christ. What a way to begin your morning, eh? Got up and checked my email and Facebook, saw that one of my "friends" had did one of those annoying little "quizzy" things... Five Historical Things In History I'd stop If You Could. Well you know the fucker had the nerve to put the election of Barack Obama. Put me on blast! Fired off a reply, which I'm sure will end our friendship:

"If I hear one more white person complain about Barack Obama, I think I'm going to be sick. Will y'all get over it already.?!?! He's really not doing that bad of a job! Or is it that White people still see Black people as inferior in this country????? And Dave you put here that you'd stop the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, who by the way, Barack Obama has modeled his presidency upon, or didn't you pay attention during the Inauguration? So far he's {Barack} done the same things Lincoln did, and making better progress. I'm not expecting you to explain yourself or understand why black people think every negative remark against Obama is racist, because you people won't, nor do we have the time or desire to educate ones out of their self-deceived bigotry. I expected better statements than this from you. Really, I did. I'm really disappointed in you man...."

Ian's Inquiry: OK, Said friend might not be a racist, but I get that perception some folks are holding on to 44's election as this great evil, and to me it conveys nothing but racism. So, is every white person who has anything substantial negative about the President being prejudiced or racist?

Hey You!

Read in jest, because sometimes the only way to get through the storm is to do a humorous rant along the way and laugh your ass off... This is in response to some recent disrespect I've been receiving. It's not even worth blogging about, you know I will eventually...

Hey you!
Yeah you,
Ya cocky sonuvabitch!
Fucka!
Yeah, I'm talkin' to you bitch!
I know you think you oh-soooo-fuckin' better than me
cause Father God gave you blessings He didn't give me,
Oh well.
Here I stand!

Bitch,
I saw you starin' at me,
laughing,
mockin my mannerisms,
making motions like I was the fattest thing this side of Eden.
I know,
I'm a big boy...A BIG boy.
Gotta problem wit' dat?

Obviously you do.
Fuck off cum wad!
Neanderthal brain mofo. Did I even remotely express interest in your ass?!?!
Just cause I got casual wit'you,
friendly,
conversational-like,
doesn't mean I'm trying creep with you!

Nigga Please.

Cretin.

And exactly who are you to judge me?

Is all your shit in order?
I-don-think-so!
Aw hell nawr, it ain't!
See,
you so busy running around,
fucking ev'rything that moves,
proving yo'self to be a real Black man,
real Latin bruh,
you forgot one thing
I never said I was wanting you.

Yes, I might be a thick brother,
some say fat,
Yes,
I got issues, plenty of 'em,
but you know what?
That don' make me desperate,
I got some integrity.

Dear one,
I have way beyond your shallow image,
beyond that piece of rotten meat between your thighs,
I got my self-worth,
my self-respect!
Though it might be difficult to maintain some days,
I got it!

So see,
I might not be phine as wine,
be trim like Jim,
fabulous as you wanna be,
might not be turnin all the heads at the club,
but that's OK!
Cause I know where my heart stands.
Do you know even where your heart is at?!?!

So you do your thang,
and I'll do mine.
I wish you much love in the end though,
cause though you might not see it,
you're still my brutha,
and if you took the time to see it,
you'd recognize I'm not so bad,
just cause I 'on't look like you.
But thems your issues...

I pray someday you'll get it.
Get that the Creator made us all,
big, small, thin, short, fat, beautiful, not-so-beautiful,
and that the greatest thing there is to life,
is not fucking,
(who cares how many conquests you notched on your bedpost?!?!)
or how many friends you had,
but what good service you did while you was here.

A'ight?
So lemme take back my earlier 'fuck you.'
Replace it with a 'Bless You' instead
See sometimes I get angry,
but no harm,
cause when I touch base with me,
It's HIM I see,
not you,
clears away the facade,
opens doors...
(and they is opening)

On that note,
lemme step.
I got better things to do
than worry 'boutchu,
so wit dat I say
"Peace brother."
catch u on da flip....

Is This Sh!t Funny?

"Comedy" from Chris Spencer. I dunno if I'm being sensitive or just plain indignant, but I didn't find this humorous at all.

Ro, Ro, Ro 360

Last night I didn't watch much television. Just a little bit of Jeopardy, then I went to finish reading "Basketball Jones" (E! I'm not feeling this book this go 'round. Maybe cause I'm in a funk.)

N-t-way, I just finished reading Rod's post on Roland Martin's appearance last night on Anderson Cooper 360, and his defending that silly woman (Miss California) for expressing her opinion that marriage is between a man and a woman. Don't feel like rehashing it, read it here if you haven't already heard.

Roland, Roland, Roland...Brother. Is it true that you now on "their" side creating a divide in the us against them mentality? Another black man who doesn't the gay rights issue as being a civil rights issue? How dare gays compare the struggle to the Civil Rights Movement! Oh my, makes me so tired. Like so many, I've come to the table after gaining a one up from second class social status, only to be told once more to go eat in the kitchen, outta sight. When will we equal rights? Or because its not a violation in color, it doesn't matter? What about men and women of color who happen to be gay? What about then?

I've much respect for Roland, believe he's an intelligent brother, but I wish he'd extend the same courtesy to his gay brethren and sisters as well. Pity I'm reading about this now. My started on the good foot when I heard Roland give a stirring and convincing commentary on the Tom Joyner Morning Show today on why Jesse Jackson Sr. should be allowed to go to Iran and attempt to negotiate the release of Roxana Saberi.

I'm usually impressed by his sagely words and wisdom, but in this instance, I'm severely disappointed in Roland. Rod said it far more eloquently, so I don't wanna parrot him. I only know this instance further broadens the hole I've been feeling in my heart regarding recent negative situations with gays in the US. While this makes me angry, a great part of me feels sad, defeated. Nevertheless, we can't give up on the good fight. Our foreparents didn't and neither should we. I need to remind myself of this more often...

Tidbits, Part One: Smokeless & Eating

Note: I started this post eaaaaaaaaarly this morning when I wasn't in a very good mood. Be forewarned, I'm a bit bitchy, but purging some inner daemons!!! Just wait. I split this into two parts....

So, it's after three in the morning, and here I sit on the laptop, worried, tired, confused, stressed, and bereft. Why not go back to bed? Because I can't sleep. Or rather, because sleep is done with me. I sleep in weird intervals, usually its about three hours at a time, so your truly is up for the duration.

Following up with my earlier post from yesterday afternoon, 'tis true, I've been sad. However, not just, I've also been extremely irritated. Rotating between emotions for the last several weeks. frustration is boiling over. Things came to a climax Sunday after a discussion with Brother Jarrell on how hectic things at home have been. In addition, I have a tendency to heap the worlds problems on my own shoulders. The recent deaths of the young men who committed suicide, the young man found disposed in a garbage dumpster, and all the unfairness mainstream society is attempting to thrust upon the LGBT community, well my heart is just in a bad place.

To his credit, our blogging brother Corey is a saint. Or at least God sent, honest and trule. I had a meltdown on brother, enough so to scare even the most patient of Saints. Surprised dude didn't go running for the hills, but Mr. Jarrell has proven himself to be a reliable and trustworthy friend. Kudos for him.

Since coming home from hospital, my parents have cared for me so might heal better this go round. We wanna nip all this in the bud and be done with it. Btu things never seem to go according to plan, at least not in my life. My family has been supportive, but they don't understand the mess I'm experiencing. It's difficult being here, back in Philly, back home, relying on others again. I'm used to my independence, but that doesn't mean I can't ask for help, but rather I want the help that doesn't come with restriction, or price tags.

All the rules! I have to laugh here because it seems like I'm 15 all over again. Can't do this after certain hour, must do this before this particular hour, lights out at this hour... Are you serious?!?! I'm almost 40. If I want to read or talk on my cell, that's my business. If I surf the 'Net for more than an hour, which I tend to do because mobility is an issue, well that's fine. I'm not hurtin' you am I? Sheesh! Let's call a spade a spade, being here sucks. The old saying "You can't go home again" rings sooooooo true.

Not to sound ungrateful, I'm happy someone took compassion to help me, believe me. My folks are extending a generosity and compassion not many people would extend to their children who're almost 40. And believe me, I've read in-between the lines with some comments. I am a grown ass man, why the help can't I can't take care of myself, right? That subtle unstated sentiment looms heavy in the air, I know. It's not just my parent though, so let's give them a little slack. But my parents are well known for their criticism and constant remarks on other people's lives and what folk should and shouldn't be doing. Christ. Living here, life is constant examination under the microscope.

An example. Shortly before going in hospital, I decided now was as good of time as ever to quit smoking once and for all. It's a nasty habit and in the long run I'll be thankful. But the road hasn't been easy and I'm having cravings still after several weeks. Well, like most folks who quit, I've developed a lil bit of an appetite. Dear sweet "mumsy" has decided to lay into about my eating habits, questioning where do I put it all, blah blah blah blah.

Now, I should mention that I am a thicker brother. It's in my genes. Unfortunately, I didn't inherit the "tall" traits from my mama's people and got stuck with the heavier, big boned genes from my daddy's Southern peeps! Frag! Hard to believe this child here started out life at less than 6 pounds when I was born.

Life has been a struggle to maintain an appropriate weight. It's oh-so-damn-easy to fall off the wagon, but I don't wanna be grossly obese or not cute anymore, so I do my best to work on things. Besides, you know gay men are more shallow than a little bit, so I'm not trying gain anymore girth than necessary. To that end though, I will ashamedly admit, I do have poor self-image, reinforced by the voices over 39 years how I was too this or too that. Tends to work on a guy af'er while. dealing with the residual negative self-esteem issues from childhood hasn't been fun in life. I don't enjoy discussing it. That's part of the reason why you probably won't see too many pictures of me on this blog. I simply hate how I look...but that's an even longer story.

To be completely forthcoming, weight issues are a hot mess with me. It's a colossal pain in the ass. I manage to go workout or exercise, but the shit has never been anything but a burden, never fun. And to that end, I recognize I will never look like a model, never have washboard abs, or be the one turnin' head. Such is life. Like the best of us, I take it in stride until somebody gets up in my grill about things, then, "Houston we have a problem."

Whenever anyone questions or challenges my behavior involving weight, foot, or eating, I get defensive or withdrawn, depending on where my head is at. And yeah, I've been known to stop eating too. Don't mess with the bulimic behavior too much though. (That scares the crap outta me, but shallow, sick part of me thinks I'd rather be a thin and sexy than some vile vilified hog.)

Dealing with post operation stress, the craving for nicotine has increased tenfold. All I wanna do is escape into the backyard and toke on some toxic chemicals. Yeah, I know smoking is probably the worst of habits, but it was my thang. I do and don't miss it at the same time. I don't miss running to the convenience store in the wee hours for a pack nor the price of a pack, but I do miss the tranquil comfort it gave, even if I did smell like an ashtray. At least I never smoked in the house! That was my rule. If I wanted a damn thing bad enough, then come snow, sleet, cold, dark of night, warmth and heat of summer, outside on the deck I was...

Makes Me Wanna Holla!

Today was not one of my better days. Forgive me one and all, but I was the BFH (bitch from Hell) today. Some reason, crankiness crept into my being and wouldn't let go of me. Probably in part to the lack of sleep from the damn Daylight Savings Time change. I hate it in the Spring.

Woke up extra early this morning and try as I might, sleep refused to answer my yearning need. So I laid in bed for an hour and 45 minutes before getting up and turning on the Tom Joyner Morning Show at 6:00 AM. From there, my mood just degenerated into just plain nasty.

S'pose the ebb and flow of emotion also has connection to bad news concerning health matters I learned Friday. Been blatantly ignoring and not handling that sitch, so my subconscious must be working overtime processing and coming to grip with the latest in my health saga. Will I never heal properly? Sheesh.

Perhaps I'll explain the whole story in post tomorrow, but not now. I really am avoiding and burying my head in the sand. But the most important trigger came from a conversation with my beloved Grand ma-ma Sunday afternoon. Let me preface, I love the woman dearly, but she more or less compares me to the Great Whore of Babylon astride my wild ox coming to usher in the Apocalypse. She means well, but the constant critical statements wear me out. It's a family issue, one that started waaaaaay before I was born, so it's not entirely about me. Still.

Why is it only family can elevate you to such heights only to send you crashing down again, all in the name of love? Harsh statements and resounding judgment never helped anyone move forward. I'm a stubborn man. Get it from my daddy. And as nice as I probably come off here on the blog, I have nasty streak when my ire is riled up. Unfortunately I cuss like a sailor, do it in three languages, and have no shame reading the riot act if somebody pisses me off.

Now, just so you're sure, I still have R-E-S-P-E-C-T for my elders. I would nevah cuss out dear old gram. Honey I ain't crazy! That lady used be well-known for tearin' up mine, my sisters, my cousin, et al's asses if we got outta line. And at 80-something, I'm not about to test her to see if she will still make the attempt or not...but damn, I get so frustrated with her logic and assumptions. You know? My life is tame in comparison to other family members: I'm not running the streets. I'm whoring myself out. I'm using drug like I did 16 years ago. I've never been in jail. Never done anything to bring shame or scandal on our family name... Really. The same can't be said about others.

My life is stagnant right now. Dull. Boring. Just ordinary. But hear my gram talk, well you'd think I was the world's worst sinner. "You need to rededicate your life to Christ." Um, and you know my relationship with Jesus because? It just frustrates me because I'm not living the life she thinks I ought be living, then there's something amiss with me. I'm sorry if I'm not in church every Sunday. I'm sorry if I'm not quoting scripture left and right, but I know God know and sees my heart. He sees my struggle and how I am trying to make an effort, minimal as it may be. ...It's sad and hurts own grandmother thinks I'm a horrible person.

When I search for an answer for why she might think these things, well, all roads lead to Rome. Gotta be the gay issue. I know she KNOWS how I butter my toast. But again, I've never directly had that conversation with my grandmother. Nor my folks. Nor anyone in the older generations in my family. I'm sure it's been discussed, assumed, but nobody ever approached me and boldly asked. If they did, I would tell them the truth. I haven't done it because it's an uncomfortable topic. Additionally, I'm not nosing up in who parks their shoes under my respective family member's beds at night, so why should they care who does at my house? Huh? NP!

It's my own fault though. I should address the matter head-on; just need to be done with it. Call it cowardice, but I'm just not in the mood at this current stage in my life. I'm not well in body, spirit, or mind. For the interim, I need to rely on folk outside my circle of friends. While my family may not condone my life, they are reliable and I can depend on them if I am dire straits. So, the subject is off the table; for now. I made myself a promise however, I won't enter my 40s living in secret. So I have less than 11 months for figure out how to leave the drama at their doorstep, then walk away.

Don't lecture me guys. I know I'm not living my whole truth. All things in there due course of time. For tonight, I just needed to vent. Thanks for reading.
