Things About Me...

Occasionally, I get email from people with one of those "Get To Know You" lists where a person tells you things about themselves and then you forward on your responses back to them and so many other people. I recently got one in my email box and decided to post my answers on the blog instead. Read it. Respond to darktomahawk@gmail.com with your own answers if you'd like.

Enjoy!

1. Three things that scare me:
a. Growing older.
b. Spiders. Yeah, I know they're smaller than me, but they're creepy.
c. Heights.

2. Three people who make me laugh:
a. Carlos Mencia
b. Margaret Cho
c.
D L Hughley

3. Three things I love:
a. Chocolate. I can't get enough of it.
b. My cats. Wolfy-cat and Lieby-cat are the best companions I've ever had.
c. Reality TV shows Top Chef, Project Runway, Clean House, The Biggest Loser and American Idol.

4. Three things I hate:

a. Asinine (ASSinine, really) people. Especially one dimensional, opinionated, bigots.
b.
When the moment slips through your fingers, you know it's too late, and the exactly right moment will never come again..
c. Organ meats (liver, tripe, heart, chitterlings (shit you know I mean Chitlins), tongue, etc) as any type of meal. Yuck!

5: Three things I don't understand:
a. Racists, Sexists, and Homophobes.
b. How George W. Bush got re-elected for a second term
c. Anything other than basic mathematics (i.e. trigonometry, calculus, etc).

6. Three things on my desk:
a. A birthday card from Lady Miss T.
b. An old hair-tieback from when I had my braids earlier this summer.
c. A jar of peanut butter.

7. Three things I'm doing right now:
a. Contemplating cleaning my office.
b. Preparing tuna macaroni Salad for a picnic tomorrow.
c. Downloading mp3s to my desktop.

8: Three things I want to do before I die:
a. Stroll down the
Champs-Élysées in Paris sipping coffee and eating a chocolate croissant. Seriously.
b. Become an entrepreneur owning the soul food fusion restaurant, Wild Child's.
c. Settle down and have the family, home, and 2.5 kids that is the American dream. The likelihood of that happening is scarce though.

9. Three things I can do:
a. Sing very well, actually, although I'm destroying my voice by smoking.
b. Read in several other languages other than my own. I can read Spanish, French, and Latin. I can't speak it well, but I can translate in my head. That's an accomplishment! The average American usually only learns one language, and some can barely manage to speak American-English properly. (I love y'all anyway)
c. Curl my tongue on both the left and right side of my mouth.

10.Three things I can't do:
a. Bring myself to visit the state of Mississippi. This probably more like a refusal.
b. Drive stick shift. I'm constantly stripping gears and the clutch hurts my foot.
c. Bake. While I can cook my ass off, baking is too much of an exact science. I cook by visual measurement, which for baking is difficult and also deadly (to the tongue)!

11.Three things I think you should listen to:
a. Any song performed by John Legend, Michael Bubl
é, or the Secret Garden.
b. Poetry read by Maya Angelou, preferably in person, if possible.
c. To your heart and mind. Whatever your mind first tells you to do, do it. Never second guess yourself.

12.Three things you should never listen to:
a. Fox News (aka the Republican Propaganda channel).
b. Words of hate (see above).
c. Your girlfriend/
boyfriend's/significant other's cellphone messages.

13.Three things I would like to learn:
a. Hit a baseball. Surprisingly, since I'm die-hard baseball fan. I'm dreadful at sports, thus, continuing the myth about bisexual/gay/SGL men and sports.
b. Italian
c. Pottery.

14.Three favorite foods:
a. Asian Cuisine, especially Sushi and Thai food.
b. My homemade turkey chili and cornbread stuffing.
c. My Aunt Delta's Sweet Potato Pie...Heaven on a plate!

15.Three shows I watched as a kid:
a. The Smurfs.
b. Diff'rent Strokes.
c. The Super Friends. All the versions...especially the ones with the Wonder Twins!

NO! I'm Britney BITCH!

All Too Replaceable

I dug this up because I finally dismissed some trash from life that has long since needed to be thrown the f*ck away. A person can only be neglected and given so many empty promises before they get tired. As I've learned all too well in my adult life, nothing, no one, is EVER irreplaceable. To borrow my favorite quotes of all times, from Mommie Dearest, "Don't F*CK with me fellas!"

I'm not your shit rag for you to wipe y' ass when its convenient for you! I'm a person with feeling and a human heart. Sure, I'm be a little over sensitive at times, but I'm deserving of honesty, truth, and loyalty at all times. As my cousin Roberta would say "F*ck the dumb shit!"

Life will go on and so will I. Right now I'm angry as hell, but the feelings will oscillate in the coming days. I've learned every circumstance in life ironically can be paralleled with Elizabeth Kubler-Ross Five Stages of Grief from her book On Death & Dying: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.

My feelings, however, have played out of order. I was in denial for a looooooooong time, been through depression & bargaining, currently am in anger mode, and hopefully, on the highway to acceptance! Acceptance isn't on the horizon yet. I don't think forgiveness will ever be available for his betrayal (the stupid ass mofo is on my shit list). My memory is GOOD and it IS LONG. On average I try to practice patience and forgiveness, but not in this situation. I hate being used and am embarrassed. To forgive is a Divine trait. To err is certainly human..oh how I intend to ERR, bitch!

For now, I'm reveling in may ire. I draw strength from my anger and my anger heals my broke soul quickly. I might be in the anger phase for a while though, especially if "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, II" (there are three in my life at the moment) attempts to contact me. I'm done playing games bastard! Go f*ck off in a corner somewhere and just leave me the Hell alone! I'm counting on my resiliency and my sistah-girls. sister-queens, (perhaps a brutha queens or two, LOL) and my male buddies to help me not regress back into my old patterns, forgive Arschloch (PA Dutch for "asshole"), and go back the path I've walked far TOO long.

Oooh. I guess this wasn't a very nice blog post, was it?

Kanye's Tirade

I'm tired of talking about Britney and her poor performance....definitely a deer caught in the headlights. Let's talk about Kanye West.

Now I understand he was upset cuz he lost every category he was in, but why he (and I mean why he, not why did he) hafta go act like a country ass fool in front of them people. Don't break the cardinal rule, never let White People see you sweat...Damn, now you know the "n-word" is going to be flying around like crazy.

Torchwood

So, I finally got the chance to watch Torchwood on BBC America this afternoon. I'm not exactly sure what to make of it or sure how well received it'll go over with American audiences. I liked it, but then again, I've been accused of liking lots of tawdry, sleazy programs. I was anxious to view the science fiction "dramedy" since its more adult oriented than it's preceding parent show, Doctor Who.

The story involves a group of scientists working to stop aliens from invading the Earth in modern day 21st Century, Cardiff, UK. It stars John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, a man from the 51st Century who cannot die and is openly bisexual. Barrowman, in real life, is openly gay. Torchwood's producer, Russell T. Davies, is also openly gay as well.

Torchwood is a spin off of the second series of Doctor Who. The name Torchwood itself is an anagram of its parent series. Torchwood was definitely more grittier than Doctor Who. BBC America left the unedited "shits" and "bollocks" (a word most Americans won't know means, unless you live here in PA Dutch Country in Central Pennsylvania, specifically Lebanon and Berks Counties) fly, which surprised me given those words are relatively verboten still in mainstream television. BBC America is known for editing its programming even to cater to American pureness, even though most have to pay extra on their cable package, at least with the mega cable media conglomerate Comcast, I have to pay extra.

Overall, I liked the first episode. I'm a loyal fan of Doctor Who. I've watched the show ever since I was a small child, watching episodes on WHYY-TV Channel 12, the PBS station, back in Philadelphia. I was glad when Sci-Fi Channel decided to pick up the newer series a few years back. I like Captain Jack's character and was disappointed he got left behind when Christopher Eccleston's Doctor regenerated into David Tennant's version of the Doctor (If you've never watched the program, I'm sure this all sounds incredibly geeky and confusing. Yes, it is).

We'll have to play a wait and see game though with Torchwood with the rest of America. It took a while for people to get acclimated to Footballers Wives. Now, Lifetime TV has gotten hip to the concept and has their own cheap imitation version named Army Wives or something to that affect.

I hope people will find Torchwood enjoyable. My earnest hope is BBC America doesn't edit the show to Hell either. Leave the questionable sexual content in! We're sensible enough to turn the channel if there's something we don't like.

Unlike Sci-Fi Channel, which edited out an on-screen kiss between the Doctor and Captain Jack, BBC America left the man-on-man kissing scene when one of the scientists goes to a bar, tries to take home another man's girlfriend, and is confronted by the boyfriend outside a local pub. I got a good chuckle...oh that must've made more than a few folks uncomfortable though.

Aren't You Gay?

My friend Tatianya and I went to visit a friend in the hospital tonight who recently had heart surgery. It's sad because said friend is only 36 years old, one year younger than I am!!! Eek! No he's had heart problems throughout his life and this surgery wasn't unexpected, just unexpected at this time. We visited for a while until visiting hours were over. He looks goods, well, as good as anyone can be for someone whose had several major incisions from their stomach to chest. I felt bad because to be hospitalized requires no modesty and surrender of privacy. I remember a few weeks ago when I had been hospitalized folks just traipse in and out of your room with little or no announcement. It's all fair game. Another time when I had been hospitalized, I had surgery for an infection in my groin and I had to show off my wares to more than enough people. Talk about humiliating. The only good thing about hospitals is more and more professionals are openly gay, or at least, discernible on "gaydar."

from I'm still gimping around myself, walking is relatively a pain in the ass, figuratively speaking. I had to stop a few times before I got to Mikhail's (our friend) room to rest. Along the way I took in the scenery as per usual. Once we got to Mikhail's, he had a young professional attending to him. He asked if we could excuse ourselves for a few minutes while they removed some sutersMikhail and then we could come back in. Since I hadn't eaten most of the day, I meandered down to the cafeteria grinning to myself. As I walked out, Tatianya noticed my smirk. "What?"

"Check back with me later." I smiled sheepishly, glanced back at the bed, and left. After Tatianya hunted me down and gave the go ahead to come back upstairs, I filled her in. First I asked her who the young guy was working on Mikhail. "I dunno. Some doctor. Why?" I explained to Tatianya that as I was coming into the room was checking out said professional as I always do when someone delictably beautiful is before me. The gentleman looked up at me and greeted me. "Oh nothing, except he was gay," I told her matter of factly. Naturally Tatianya doubted my assumption.

"Girl, please. I am a 'mo after all and I know. Besides we locked eyes!" I explained to her usually when a man looks into another man's eyes longer than a few moments, surpassing that "uncomfortable" moment most straight men look away, its a key indicator he's probably gay. It's not always true, but 99.44% of the time it is. "Trust me."

Damn Ass Shame...

Just because I was thinking of Michael Vick. Damn man, I wished he hadn't f*cked up like he had. My friend and I were discussing him the other day and he's been on my mind lately....

Battlestar Galactica: Still Pondering ...

I've been Jonesin' for some Battlestar Galactica for some time now. I've been hunting around the 'Net trying to find out anything about next season. While there will be a movie coming out this November, Battlestar Galactica: Razor. It's more of a flashback storyline and supposedly it gives clues to next season, the fourth and final season. Hm. Rumors surround that we'll actually see the traditional Cylons we were accustomed with in the Original Series.

Despite all these months, I'm still wondering who the fifth final Cylon is? I have an idea, but I cringe to think what if its true! No, not President Roslyn?!?!?! Remember she shared that vision with Number Six and "Athena?" Duh, who else could it be, unless all the blogging is correct that Starbuck, good o;' Kara Thrace, is indeed a Cylon....Four more months until next we find out.

If you look carefully at the picture with D'Anna (Number Three Cylon) meeting with the Final Five in the vision at the Temple of the Five you can clearly see there are three men and two women. Now a question arises that none of the women are dark complexion, which, Tori, President Rosilyn's aide, is dark-skinned. WTF? Another reason I think we're being thrown off in some capacity. However, if what we've seen so far is TRUE, then by the laws of every science fiction plot twist ever written, we have to assume either Rosilyn or Starbuck's character is going to be a Cylon. The only reason I rule out Laura Rosilyn is because she initially had cancer. I presume Cylons don't get cancer? But then again, they get pregnant? Frack! This is givin' me a headache....

In the meantime, here's a "Happenin" little clip I found on one of the BSG Blogs. Enjoy.

The Unofficial Summer's End

So Labor Day is finally here and it seems like the summer months have flown by. It's weird. Summer didn't seem like it was going so fast. Soon the cooler temps will be here and our thoughts will be turning to football and soon after that the Holidays.

I must admit, September has never been my favorite month. This year, however, things are a little different. I thought I'd be going back to work tomorrow, but no such luck, so my extended summer "vacation" continues. I'm getting a little sick of being cooped up in the house, but in order to heal, I have to spend most of the day laying around. Ugh! I know I'll have gained 80 billion pounds before this is all said and done. At least I'm getting out of the house today. My friend Hester's son Robin is having his 10th birthday party today. Sheesh! 10 seems like a lifetime ago.

In any case, I shall enjoy the Labor Day Holiday. With fall coming, Seasonal Autumn Track will also start soon. Now track athletes are a fine example of men at their most graceful and sexiest. Oh baby There's nothing more beautiful than a phiiiiiine lookin' man in track shorts running towards you. Whew!

Unfortunately with Fall Track, most of the beautiful arms, legs, and torsos on the guys are all covered up. But just to get the memories of Spring and Summer following, enjoy a beautiful speciMEN sample of masculine poetry in motion (or at least these guys standing around, displaying their wares and tears, LOL).

September's here....Summer's almost Ovah

I can't believe it's September 1st already. This year is flying by and summer seems like a blink of the eye. The leaves out my backdoor have already started to change colors. I'm not prepared for autumn yet! While this time of year is generally my favorite with the advent of the holidays months, I'm much rather have summer back. I spent most of the season convalescing and battling health problems. I feel like I missed a third of my summer due my health. Hey man, I gots cheated!!! Cheated I tells ya! Cheated!

This weekend holds promise. Last night I escaped from the confines of my apartment to go out to dinner with Lady Miss T and "Zende." We dined at a wonderful Pan-Asian restaurant called Okini. They have delicious food and it gave me an opportunity to indulge in one of my favorite dishes, SUSHI!!! I usually get stuff I know is safe, attempting anything unusual like eel, octopus, sea anemone, abalone, or other traditional inedible Japanese fare.

Returning home, I found I had a little stray beagle puppy on my doorstep. After checking with my neighbors, the poor little puppy didn't belong to anyone I could find, so we called rescue shelters and the township police. My downstairs neighbor, Chris, and I stayed with the dog, chatting about absolute randomness until the police dispatch sent a cruiser to get the pup. If I didn't already have cats, I would have taken the dog in to keep. He was about 5-6 months old and very friendly. He must belong to someone because he had a flea collar, but no identification tags. We were assured by the office no harm would come to the pup because Township Police have an agreement with the East Shore Humane Society.

Today has been lazy and carefree, just the way I like it. Tomorrow I might be going to the Kipona Arts Festival, a traditional end of summer event held every year at River Front Park downtown. Monday, Labor Day, is the birthday party for one my college roommates' son, so I'll be going to that. Man I feel old. I can't believe "Robin" will be 10-years old. Tempus Fugit! Time flies....

It Has Been 10 Years

Thinking of 1997, 10 years ago, one can't help but remember it as a year of great transitions. I personally remember it as a year of death, both in my own personal life, and in the celebrity circles. My father had died in April of cancer, a friend died in an auto accident in June, and my grandfather died from diabetes complications, also in June. Screwball Andrew Cunanan was going around murdering other gay men, most notably Gianni Versace at his home in Miami. It seems the spring and summer of 1997 were filled with death.

Mother Theresa died. And then of course there was Princess Diana...

It's hard to believe ten years can go by so fast. It seems like yesterday. I remember all the details that Labor Day Weekend when she died. I was online and a friend had instant messaged me to turn on the TV because Diana had been in an accident in Paris. It was surreal watching as history unfolded and the days to follow afterwards with the Monarchy and their response to her death.

Ironically, probably more on a subconscious level, my friend Heedra and I were watching "The Queen" on On-Demand this past Wednesday. Helen Mirren did an excellent portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II. She actually breathed some life into Elizabeth Regina and gave her depth and complexity instead the usual perceived stodginess. If you're into good movies, I'd recommend seeing the Queen. As a common, American citizen, I often forget all the pomp and circumstance and protocol given to some Royal Heads of State. It makes me glad we Americans don't have a Royal Government, although, with "W" in office, one has to wonder...more like King of the morons.

The Queen gives a glimpse into the British Monarchy and gives their perspective of how events unfolded after Diana's death. A scene in particular with Elizabeth in the wilds of her Balmoral Estate in Scotland, stuck in a river, gives more depth and humanity to the British Monarch than any other movie I've witnessed. The movie is not fast moving and if your not an Anglophile, I'd advise skipping it.

I wonder what would have happened to Diana if she had lived? She definitely was a trailblazer, escaping the Establishment, and created a better life for herself. The impact Diana left on the world, though, was significant. She was a defender of so many causes and passions. Yeah, I respected her, but I don't worship her like some of my other gay brethren. LOL.

I remember the impassioned plea from Earl Spencer during Diana's funeral to allow the young Princes to grow up normally, away from the glittering cameras of the paparazzi. He suggested this would have been Diana's final wish. The press respected this and left her children alone until the became adults. Her sons grew up relatively normal, well, as normal for anyone born into Royalty, with Harry having a moment or two lapses of stupidity. Anyone remember him dressing as a Nazi for Halloween party? Definitely a lapse in judgment. Overall, both William and Harry have lived normal and fulfilled their rolls as Royals. Hell, Prince Harry was evening willing to serve in Iraq will his Army Unit. I respect him for that.

Diana is missed though, probably most by her two sons. We'll never know the extent of impact Diana's death left on Princes William and Harry. Like any young person who looses a parent early in life, it's takes years to make peace with the untimely event. Harry and William showed strength and courage at a recent tribute to their mother. It must have been difficult having to share their personal pain with the world. Yet, the two have matured into great young men.

If (because I think the Monarchy is on its last legs as an institution) William ever becomes King, he will do the good for the British Monarchy.

I miss my own family that died in '97. Loss is hard to deal with, especially when its tragic. Whether cancer, diabetes, a car accident, fatal shooting, what have you, life lost is always a loss. Take a moment this weekend and remember someone you've lost over the years. It doesn't have to be a sad moment, could be peaceful, joyous, or jubilant, but honor their memory and existence and the impact their life had on yours. Your day will be all the richer....

The So-Called "Obligatory" Boob Post

J'adore l'Internet! I love the Internet. Given any amount of searching time, you'll definitely find anything and everything you're looking for. Recently I stumbled onto another blog with all these amazing pictures of accidental nudity. Oh I'm sure to get a lecture or two for this post, but I couldn't resist!

By now everyone has seen every imaginable nude post of male celebrity nudity, whether it be Shemar Moore to Pete Wentz to Jude Law to Brad Pitt to Antonio Banderas to whoever. Yadda, Yadda, Yadda. I get it by now. Some of those guys needed to air themselves out a bit. Believe I really thought about posting the Shemar Moore pictures long and hard before deciding against it. There were posted everywhere. What's funny is Shemar denying he might be gay. Oh sure he has man written all over him, but I can't help but remember back in his modeling days for International Male catalogs the suggestive, homoerotic poses. I've been able to know the length and width to Shemar even before I saw his papi chulo on Perez Hilton's blog. Anyone who's ever perused the pages of an IM catalog knows it leaves little to the imagination, although they're not as bad as 2xist, N2W, and other male underwear catalogs catered to bi/gay men and straight women.

OK, so we all know about Brittany and Paris flashing their beavers all over the place, but on this blog I was able to find some other famous women caught exposed. Lest anyone call into question my attraction to women still, here is some proof I still have male hormones coursing through my body (someone recently made a rude remark gay-bisexual men are not real men at all. What an asshole)! Of course its been said all men, gay, straight, or otherwise, have a fascination with women's breasts. Tru dat. Tru dat....

Sienna Miller, most known for her ex-beau Jude Law and currently starring in the movie Stardust, is shown here topless at a beach. Claire Danes, also currently in Stardust and the late great television show, "My So-Called Life," is seen at showing some skin at the MTV Canada Awards awhile back. Claire Danes and Sienna Miller are OK, just are a little too plain Jane for my tastes, but Hell, you can be amused.

I'm not a big fan of Lindsay Lohan (is low-en or low-HAWN?). I mean, WTF, what is wrong with the girl these days. I think she has become the modern day Robert Downey, Jr. She's been in and out of rehab, arrested, still continues to party like there's no tomorrow. I'm not casting judgment,m if anything I truly feel sorry for the girl. She had a promising career. She is on her way to nowhere-ville on the fast track. Poor thing.

Jessica Simpson is another woman I'm not fairly fond of. The best part of Jessica Simpson was her marriage to Nick Lachey. I've always hated her singing and her acting is even worse. I think her fifteen minutes are a little overdue, but she seems to sneak in under the wire every so often, like the flu, to remind us she's still around. Ugh! Retch! Vomit! Spew! Hurl! Still though....

So this post is not all that about hormones after all, huh? Hmmm. OK. Lets throw in New York. New York from I Love New York and Flava Of Love, obviously got a boob job recently. While she isn't drop dead gorgeous either, I think she's prettier than any of the women I've posted so far.

I tried in vain to find some good Halle Berry pictures to no avail. I could dig up some Lynn Whitfield pictures from when she portrayed Josephine Baker in the topless banana skirt, but I wanted some women with contemporary appeal to post. Lynn Whitfield is beautiful, there's no doubt about it, but what has she starred in lately?

This unknown vision of ebony beauty is by far the most attractive of the lot. She isn't famous, just adorable. (I can hear Lady Miss T now, "Oh My God! What A Bimbo!) Heh, heh, heh. Well this post is something for my straight male friends and lesbian friends who read the blog regularly. My female friends have all enjoyed my posts of men, even if they've disagreed with my tastes. Just the same, the Axe is going to undergo a change in direction and I'll probably stop posting any frontal nudity, male or female, soon. Right now my blog is NSFW (not safe for work) and I know a few of my friends sneak glimpses while at work. I wouldn't want to get anybody in trouble would I???

Don't worry ladies and SGL guys. The homo in me can only do without looking at the male form for so long. I'll back with the fellas soon enough.
