Brother Spotlight: David James

It's a shame most Americans don't watch football, European futebol, that is. I'm only now discovering the various handsome men running around in those oh-so-easily removed shorts. Damn. I thought some of the brothers in the NFL were hot! Shoot. Slowly but surely soccer is gaining a lil following here in the States. Maybe all those baseball performance enhancing scandals will drive fans over that direction? Maybe? Doubt it.

Now I'll admit, I don't know much about soccer either, but watching the reactions of fans worldwide, the sport definitely needs investigation. Plus every time I turn around there's some post on this someone's blog or another about a player getting "dacked." Hm. Interesting. Wish some out boys in pads and cleats would find themselves in their skivvies on the playing feed e'ery now and again. Sigh. We Americans can be such prudes, no?

Back to David. He's of British and Dominican descent and has been known by his the nickname Calamity James. I know David plays in the goalkeeper position, but other than that, not much else. I shoulda did a Google and Wikipedia search on him before I post him, but I was so blown away, I figured I can make an exception in this case. Was so moved by his rugged looks, did a feature both here and over on Chocolate Salsa.

So What's Accpetable?

Was rummaging through files on the hard drive, came across this clip of one of Oscar de la Hoya's weigh-ins. Now supposedly, you can see his junk in this clip, but you know I never noticed it before. Oscar always struck me as a weird cookie. There was that kinky business a year or so back with those photos of Oscar him dressed up in fish nets and a wig. Ole boy said it wasn't him, but yeah Oscar, we all know you got a li'l freak in you. it's alright. Admit it. You wouldn't be the first, sho nuff won't be the last.

We all have our little fetishes, don't we? Some behaviors we can admit to, others we keep outta sight, hidden from our closest associates. Then again, some folk just let it all hang out....Ah, but hell no. There are some things done in the dark, that need to stay in the dark, right? Believe me, I'm not confessing to A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G, but well, you know...

So what's so unusual about fetishes? According to Freud, Kinsey, Masters & Johnson, et al. fetishes are a normal functioning of sexual expression and behavior. Within reason, fetishes are normal. If you like to dress up in women's clothes, or have a certain predisposition for collecting mens' underwear (hopeful clean ones, let's not be too nasty), or a preoccupation with big ole booty and body parts, well there's nothin' wrong with that. Really? So, Oscar dressing up is no big deal?

Don' know all about that. Some stuff is beyond me! Had a boyfriend eons back who was into feet. Ewww! No! I can barely stand to touch my own feet, let alone someone else's peds. Home boy would wanna incorporate foot play during sex. Uh-un. That's some kinky shit I don't get into. No shape or form. Keep your skanky feet to yo'sef please.

Suppose there are worse sexual gratification behaviors. No one's EVAH asked me to put my fist in places a it don't belong or had a desire for either of us to become one's personal toilet. That's just nasty! N-A-S-T-Y. Nasty. Call me immature, but at almost 40, I long ago abandoned the notion urinating or defecating on myself as an option...like 38 years ago!!!!

Ian's Inquiry: What sexual behavior are you absolutely intolerant of? What would be your deal-breaker?

Bruthas In Da News

Regardless of your political affiliations, which cable or broadcast news channel you're most drawn towards, hands down, you gotta admit CNN has the most diversified, most handsome, lot of Men of Color anchors, correspondents, commentators, and political pundits out there.

Oh sure! Other networks try, but fail in comparison. "Fixed Noise" (Fox) has Geraldo (eww!), MSNBC has Harold Ford Jr. (handsome, but he's a "passer" and too self-pontificating at times), CBS had Russell Mitchell (handsome as hell, but he's since retired), and you really wanna go to there...let's not forget NBC's Al Roker (if he's your sorta thang).

I'll admit it! Part o' the reason I stay in touch is cause I'm hooked on the brothers on CNN. Don't know about you, but I make extra effort on the weekends to tune in to catch T.J. Holmes broadcast the news. Those dreamy bedroom eyes, that husky smooth as silk voice...damn. Read recently on Black Snob blog T.J.'s gotten engaged, but he's being all hush hush about it. Whoever she is, she's one lucky woman!

I think every gay man and straight black woman agrees T.J. ranks as the #1 hottest, sexiest thang in a suit, news anchor currently in the business. Sexy just doesn't give Brother Holmes justice. Sultry, perhaps. Confidant, masculine, smooth, with a touch o' Southern charm. (Teej is from Memphis, right?) Deliver that news, baby!

So, yes. T.J.'s numero uno over on CNN. But I ask you, who's number two? Personally, I'm torn. Joe Johns is very distinguished; more mature than his counterparts, so let's not discount age. But I gotta confess a hankering for Don Lemon (Spidey Sense tingles when he's on air) or Jason Carroll (he reminds me of an ex-boyfriend, down to the features and complexion). Even Dr. Sanjay Gupta is tasty on occasion. So... ¡Díga me! Who's your pick for number two man on CNN? Who's runner up to Thomas James Holmes?

Ian's Inquiry: Besides CNN, does your local new market have a phine ass man o' the Afro-Spanish-Moorish Diaspora working there? Who would you say is your sexiest broadcaster?

Let's Get Lifted!

I forget how old my granddaddy, my father's father's father, was when he came to the United States, but I certainly wish the Old Man had lived to see the day relations between his Homeland and The US started to ease.

Making good on his campaign promise, "Forty-Four" has begun the process to lift travel restrictions for Cuban Americans to return to see relatives back in Cuba. Thank you President Obama.

Unfortunately, I'm not Cuban-American enough to qualify to travel to Cuba...too much other ethnicity swimming in my gene pool. Plus, I wouldn't know if any of my granddaddy's people are still alive in Cuba or not, but I live in hopes some day I might be able to visit Granddad's home country of Cuba...see the street where he played, where his parents worked, glance upon "the land of beauty" as he always told me it was.

Someday
. The current measure is a foot in the door for the eventuality all Americans might have better relations with our Spanish speaking-neighbors to the South. I, for one, will smile a smile for Issy Sr, my granddaddy...

So Who's Your Favorite Dominican?

Cross post on all three blogs Chocolate & Salsa, MALE, and Weilding The Axe, peeps! So tell me, is it:

St. Louis Cardinal
Albert "The Machine" Pujols (José Alberto Pujols Alcántara)

L.A. Dodger
Manny "Man-Ram" Ramirez (Manuel "Manny" Aristides Ramírez Onelcida)

New York Yankee
Alex "A-Rod" Rodriguez (Alexander Emmanuel Rodriguez)

Tough decision. Curious to see who y'all pick. I bet A-Rod, Mr. "I'm so overrated but still damn cute." But Manny and Albert got plenty fans out there, so maybe I'll be surprised?

Naked Male

For the record, I'm not a morning person. Never have been. I can burn the midnight oil, but when dawns first light hits, I'm like Lestat searching for my dark corner to retire and repose. Mornings are always an interesting time for me.

Depending on my night's rest, I'm the moodiest SOBs you'd ever deal with. I'm sure we're all like that. Then other days, I might rise up with a healthy attitude, ready to course through the day.

And today is such a grateful to be alive. Hello! I'm so there...and rest had nothing to do wit' it.

More later...

Albert Pujols

Lord knows, I'm no fan of the St. "Screw-us" Cardinals, I do enjoy watching Albert play.

Thank God baseball starts in two months. I'm soooo tired of winter. Baseball always means Spring is near, which leads to warmer weather! My hope is to catch as many games as I can, between Camden Yards and Citizen's Bank Park, as possible to watch the Boys of Summer this 2009 Baseball season. Probably will only be able to afford the nose bleed section, but hey! Cheap-o seats are still seats at a game, right?

You know that's right!

Not-So-Pretty Ricky

Is it me, or has Ricky Martin let himself go just a l'il bit?

Never a huge fan, but back in the day, Ricky was a tasty morsel; good on the eyes. Hm. Maybe this might be the proof straight folks need to keep the delusion Papi is straight. After all, no self-respecting gay man would evah be caught out in public unkempt and be photographed lookin' "tow up from the flow up." I'm not diggin' the nasty facial hair, pasty skin, or the acne. And honey, baby blue is not your color!

"Oh Ian, be nice. Chica just had babies! Stop bein so catty."

Um... last time I checked, Ricky doesn't have a uterus, right? All Ricky did was you-know-what ina vial somewhere and contributed his DNA! So his part was done after two minutes. He had plenty of time to run to the beauty shop, get himself clipped, snipped, fried, dyed, and laid to the side. And don't he live in PR still?

Excuse me? Hello? PR? Puerto Rico... the Caribbean. The unofficial 51st state. Sun, fun, and mo' sun. The gorgeous men! (but I digress) Don't they got beaches? Tanning salons? Couldn't his significant other rubbed some bronzing cream or sumthin on his man 'fore they photgraphed this shot? To quote the immortal Lucille Ball..."Oh Riiiickkky!"

Sike! No. Lemme stop playin'. Today's Christmas Eve and is his birthday after all. When I wake up with that lump o' coal tomorrow, I'll have no one to blame but myself. OK Ricky, you know I love you. So from crazy me, to wonderful you, Happy 37th Birthday!

Just we can remember the good old days though, I posted some better snaps of you.

No Junito?!? No You Didn't!

Patrik-Ian,

Word on the street is Wilson Cruz will not be in the Noah's Arc follow up movie. Siiiiiiigh. Dammit! Why the F not! Maybe there was a schedule conflict? Maybe he turned down reprising the role? Maybe he hates the character? Maybe...oh, I just want Wilson. Merde. How could you do this to me Patrik-Ian? I mean, come on my brother! We share a name!

So hurt, so hurt, so sad...

Now I understand how some my friends felt about Aidan not being in the Sex and the City movie. But unlike Aidan, I liked Junito! And I absolutely adore Wilson Cruz. I'm way over Jensen Atwood. No offense, bruh is hot and all, but I'm so tired of him. Watch five minutes of Dante's Cove and you'll see my point. Ugh! Besides, I'm the mindset I want my actors playing gay, really to be gay. Watching Rockmond Dunbar in Dirty Laundry was frustrating. I was really pissed at him for being straight. Rockmond seemed so convincing. Argh! You wouldn't ask a white person to put on black face and pretend to be black would you??

I know, I know, I know... it's not the same issue. Just thank God Wilson's family. I do.

It's funny how things progress. When he starred in My So-Called Life, Wilson was an awkward, effeminate teen. Too delicate. He kinda creeped me out then. Now don't go yellin' at me, I have issues with my own masculinity at times, so I know it was pure projection.

I'm not sure why, but when Wilson resurfaced on Ally McBeal as a transvestite (cross-dresser? I never know which terminology is best to use) and the character was subsequently killed, my hot button surged. In fact, that episode is one of the few Ally McBeal shows I kept. This brother got real me sweaty.

Wilson's filled out rather nicely since playing Ricky Vasquez or Stephen/Stephanie. I miss Junito! I gushed like a little school girl whenever Wilson had a scene with Christian Vincent (Ricky). And his smile? You've seen that radiant smile. Does anyone have a sexier smile?

Wilson's got a whole lotta Latin spitfire goin' on! He's handsome as Hell. Almost said "cute" but that seems so damn childish. And Wilson seems a genuine and sincere actor. His role as Kelly in Coffee Date moved me to tears. Ugh, the unrequited love situation! Been there. Who hasn't?

Most encouraging is Wilson gives back to the LGBT/SGL community. I admire that. He donates himself to causes helping LGBT youth, particularly, youth of Persons of Color. Unlike other well-known "out" child actors, Wilson remembers his upbringing and knows how to give back.

I miss seeing Wilson on TV.(If I say it enough times, maybe my wish will come true?) Perhaps those bastards at Logo who made the decision to cut the series will bring Noah and company back, then I can get my fill.

I doubt it. If anything gay Hollywood is predominantly about white gays. Check on my recent post on top 100 men for 2008 if you think otherwise. How many brothers were on the list outta 100?

No, giving us the upcoming Noah's Arc movie was giving a dog a bone; to pacify us. Oh, just about every gay Black will spend their hard earned dollar to see this feature, so the "Powers-that-be" aren't stupid. I'm sorry if that offends anyone. That's just my personal opinion.

There. Didn't I tell you I'd still post little blurbs on pop culture and sexy guys? Besides, after yesterday's topic, didn't we need something lighthearted today?

"That's my story and I'm sticking to it"
