The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency
Caught Jill Scott in her latest project on HBO, The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency. I was subtly impressed.
Jill's acting ability is passionate, but given the premise of the story, as a man deeply centered in North American culture, I wasn't too sure I would be able to relate or connect with brothers and sisters from the Motherland o'er there in Botswana. Boy was I wrong.
If you haven't the chance to watch the show for yourself, do so. The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency conveys spirit and character making its message universal.

some nice hunky men in there especially in the 2nd series which we are seeing now in the uk. are they american actors or botswana actors, do u think? i prefer the gentler pace of the stories in the books by alexander mcCall smith. some of the scenes in the tv adaptations are too sensationally dramatic for me. jill scott is very good in it.
this is a GOOD show...
I absolutely love this show. It's a refreshing different kind of show that we don't have elsewhere on TV.
While it is an idealized side of Africa it isn't too far off that it is complete fantasy. So if anything it confronts the standard image that we still have about Africa in our mind.
It also reminds me a lot about life back on the island. I hope the series does well.
I've heard about this movie...I guess I need to catch it next time.
Okay, I really need to start watching more tele. What station and when does it air?
I love the show
I've heard all the hype and I'm sure I'd love it too, but I have to get HBO to see it and that ain't happenin' no time soon. I also heard they have a very positive black gay male character on this show.
Yes the gay character on the show, I forget his name, is very funny and believable. And he's a lil heftier, kinda cute. Not some thin ass pretty boy (no offense to the pretty brothers out there!)
