In no way do I consider myself the supreme aficionado of men's undergarments (or in the usual parlance, 'draws' LOL) but I do know what typically looks good. Just when I thought no one could make tighty whities look semi-sexy, I found this photo. Does he makes 'em work? Um, possssssibly? I think it's just the guy!

I'm not completely sold. I prefer my men in boxer's or boxer briefs. TW's are usually ugly and never seem to look like they fit right. Too baggy in all the wrong places, too wide lookin', and ever so unappealing... Maybe it's just me.

I'll keep searching for that perfect model that shows me otherwise...

You'll pardon my brief absence from blogging, please. Yours truly has been caught up and otherwise detained most of January. And here I thought the new year would usher in changes, yet it seems like old habits (and situations) indeed die hard. No worries. I'm regrouping.

So. 2012. Are you feelin' it yet? I'm still encouraged by what the year has to offer. I'm already plotting my next big adventure and as a suggestion from Wonder Man, Hawaii seems like the destination! My only fear is that's a long as plane ride. But if I can board and fly to LA, whats another few hours to Paradise, eh?

As far as my progress with my weight loss. I've successfully lost 25 lbs since starting, but it hasn't been easy. My next step is joining a gym later this month, but I will admit much trepidation due to irrational fears & insecurities. However, the good thing is I have a buddy system and three of my fellows have dedicated themselves to going with me. OK, good deal. So no mo' excuses, right Ian? Well now there's always room for procrastination! LOL

Kidding, but much like Jean Grey and the Phoenix, I'm taking time to come back and recreate myself as many times as it takes until I get what I want...

Well after weeks of hearing politicos go on and on about it, it's finally here. The Iowa Caucus. Admittedly, I must have fallen asleep in Government 101 back in high school because I couldn't tell you the different between a caucus or a primary, or why Iowa is so important.

The GOP contenders are set and they say crazy ass Rick Santorum had been ranking in the top three for a while. God I hope not. Ask anybody from PA what they think of Santorum and you'll they side eye glance... Honestly though, nobody really takes a shine to being a good leader. What do we have? A few homophobes, a philanderer, a racist, a dollop of idiots, and each and every one ready to crush the middle class and working poor at any opportunity. Hm. Sounds WONDERFUL for the 45 President of the United States, eh?

2012 is going to be an interesting year politically speaking. I wonder how much will actually get accomplished or will the Right continue to block and delay bills and measures up until November? Like most Americans, I'm not satisfied with Congress. I don't necessarily think it's all 44's fault. Yes the Prez has made mistakes, but when you have the GOP purposely trip up the man, well, you can't place blame on the man solely. I'm just sayin'.

So anyway. There's my two cents worth on politics today.

True to my word ( a promise made five minutes to midnight) I endeavored to rest, relax, and reflect today. For this new year eased in with little fanfare my day was spent lounging watch my DVR and feasting upon a medley of steamed clams & mussels. A bit lazy, but not a bad day.....

Tomorrow I have off, like many other folk, so I hope to get motivated with cleaning and the like. Resolutions? I don't I made any except to be good to myself and my spirit. I don't need to make grandiose plans that only will be abandoned in A few days. I'm terrible at keeping resolutions. How did this tradition start anyway, eh?

2011 hasn't been a bad year. It's been overall a learning year and I'm proud to say I'm coming away from the last 3-6-5 with more insight and knowledge. There were times I felt like giving up, but perhaps my greatest testimony will be the resiliency gained. Sure I'm closing the old, starting the new, single, but it could be worse. LOL.

I'm looking forward to the challenges 2012 will bring and I hope to tackle many of my so-called failures from this year... lack of trust, vocational aspirations, weight loss, etc... and make those successes! Yep. 2012 is the year I take back.

I was surfing through blogs not long ago when a came across this post from Mike In Bama's sit about folks and their relationship with mirrors. I was like, "cool." because I hate mirrors. ALWAYS have. I'm reposting Mike's original blog and the link below. I take no credit for his work...

I have a mirror phobia... I don't look in the mirror very often.

If you're under 45 years old, take a good look at yourself in the mirror. Not because we want you to think about your life and where it's going or anything. Just because we want you to squeeze in some good mirror sessions while you still enjoy them. According to a new survey out of England, age 45 is the turning point when people stop wanting to look at themselves in the mirror. The survey found that's when people look in the mirror and can't avoid thinking about how they've aged.

In the survey, 51% of people 18 to 24 say they look in the mirror at least 10 times a day.

From ages 25 to 34, that drops to 44% of people.

From ages 35 to 44, that drops to 33% of people.

And after age 45, only 9.4% of people look in the mirror that often. More than a quarter of people over 45 take it even further and say they try to never look in the mirror.

The survey also found that women are almost three times more likely to be concerned with aging than men. 32% of young women surveyed said they're dreading getting older versus 12% of young men.

The Christmas Holiday is done and the count down to 2012 is on. I still don't have concrete plans for Saturday. Hm. Been given a few invitations to gatherings, but I haven't decided what to do. I'd like to be out and about. My celebration, however, will be pretty low key. That's typically how it is. I am looking forward to the fresh start 2012 is bringing.

2011 was a learning year. It was neither good nor bad, just an experience overall. I learned more about my strengths and my station in life. I feel fortified that the next stage is secure and that some of my foals will be reached in the coming 365.

I'm ready. Let's get this party started!

A friend of mine claims that "Facebook is the Devil." I often tease and disagree with him, but last night I came into situation that gave me pause to reconsider....

Now I won't say exactly what happened, but it was a sitch said friend's his boyfriend pointed out to me. It kinda left me scratching my temple doing a double take...One of those moments where you really understand your true place in the Universe, when she comes on by, knocks on the door, and says "Hello." Ouch! It wasn't a cute moment. I truly realized how sometimes social networking can be cruel and isolating at times.

I must confess, however, before the Universe's social slam I was beginning to tire Facebook. The damn thing become MySpace. When I joined, I only accept friend requests from people I knew, and so I thought, what most people did. Now, like MySpace, Facebook is becoming the competition of how many friends one can accumulate. Oh look I have 8 billion friends to your 300. Uh huh. I'm really considering deleting the damn thing.

So what's stopping me? Hm. Well, I suppose the thought of not being in the mix of things, being in the know. With some of my friends the only way I do keep in contact is with their post on Facebook since they never take the time pick up the phone to call or email. Of course, going back to the friend that initiated this post, he would say the phone works both ways. And he would be correct in that assertion. But everyone wants to feel important and often enough I feel like I'm the one always making the effort to stay in touch. If you miss me enough, you can contact me! Your fingers ain't broke! I can call three, four, five times....LOL. Yeah I know. Issues and drama. Social networking is not all that it's cracked up to be.

I think I'm starting not to like the information-technology age. Phooey!

In a few weeks folks will make New Year's resolutions to lose extra pounds, trim the flab, and git physically fit. Hmph. Some will accomplish that goal and others will quickly fall away. For myself, I've been struggling with the path for the latter half of 2011 and I intend to struggle further still into 2012... *sigh* It's a daunting task.

I believe I once heard that Michelangelo felt his sculpture always existed underneath the marble, he only needed to chip away the excess to release the inner masterpiece. As with me, there is an inner beautiful person underneath the mass, I only need to undo a lifetime of bad habits to unveil my true self. Some days I feel good about it. Other days, I really want to abandon the effort and wallow in misery. I created this mess. How the hell do I get out???

I'm keeping up the optimism though. To be cliche, where there is a will, there most certainly is a way, right? Learning to love the body I'm in is a start. I don't have to love everything about it, just accept circumstances for what they were, and then make the change.

I'm holding my head up today. That's what I'm doing...

A friend of mine posted this to his Facebook page. Bemused at first, seriousness crept in, and I began to not laugh so much. I mean really? Can you believe we're into December tomorrow? Where did the month go??? Seems like yesterday was just Halloween. But the Holidays are in full swing and soon we'll be saying Happy New Year. Wow. I think I'm just not ready...

So far for this month I did make some progress with my weight loss goals. It's tough and even more during the Holiday season. Thankfully I didn't go hog wild at the dinner table last week. The real challenge will start from here on out because December tends to be the free for all with snacks, treats, and goodies galore all month long. UGH! Help a fat man thru it Lawd!

I'm certain a l'il determination, denial, deep faith---the Triple D Approach, will help me come through unscathed. I hate trying to lose weight during this toughest season, but shoot! I need to get right with my body and stop treating it like a garbage dump and more like the TEMPLE it should be.

I have a few loose odds and ends hanging lately. A few tidbits over the last few weeks I should bring everyone up to speed. The virus on my laptop was a bitch!After rasslin' with my laptop for a few days, my friend seems to think my computer is virus free. It was pretty nasty. Still not sure how I got it, but I'm pretty sure it was from one of those Tumblr blogs I solicit. Hahaha.

The job hiring outcome! I never did let you guys know what happened with the hiring decision I had a few weeks ago. Well, I prayed on it and at first didn't choose my friend because I didn't anyone to accuse me of favoritism. Well after struggling and carefully selecting my candidates, the primary choice decided not to take the position, which allow for my other choice and my friend to step into the positions. God is good.

Lawdhavmercy! Well somehow, some way, my computer has gotten a virus and I've been rasslin' with the damn thing since the weekend trying to get it working properly.

It all started when I tried to update my Anti-virus software and it's been pullin' and grittin' teeth ever since. Fortunately, I do a regular back-up of my important documents on the external hard drives. Accessing the Internet has been problematic. Both IE and Firefox refuse to load. THANKFULLY, I also have Safari to browse the web. Only problem all my bookmarks are in the Firefox browser. So I gotta run my poor laptop over to a friend who works in IT. Praying he can root out my virus woes...

Poor Herman. "Brutha" just can't catch a break. But then as I've heard, he shouldn't blame racism, right? Hmph. I've kept my mouth shut until now.

Until his scandal came out the woodwork, I seriously thought the Party of Hate might nominate Cain as their presidential nominee, but with evidence pointing information about Cain's alleged harassment improprieties was released from someone in his own party...well I guess they were trying to make sure that doesn't happen.

For the most, I ignore Herman Cain. In contest between him and Obama, does Cain honestly believe he'd beat 44? HONESTLY? I'm jus' asking the question. If he says 'yes," there's definitely an inflated ego goin' on, IMHO.

So, will Herman bounce back from all of this? Will he achieve the golden prize of the GOP nomination? As a friend of mine is apt to say, "All is yet to be revealed....."

Last night I was deeply saddened when my buddy text me Heavy D had passed. I was in shock. Told a few people at work and everyone else responded with the same incredulous reaction.

Forty-four is way too young... I got me to think about my own life and not taking things for granted. Not anything. Yes Lord, I woke this morning moanin' and groanin' but I'm ever so thankful you breathed another day into my lungs. Today is ultimate all we have. One sweet day at a time. Thank you Jesus.

This morning and day appears to be promising. I have a busy agenda at work today, one of which is hiring two new employees to help with astronomical building work load. I already had my interviews with the candidates and have to present my facts to my supervisor this afternoon, then let personnel know. I'm responsible for this decision. Baby, I'm sweatin' bullets over it too!

It hasn't been an easy choice. Each of the candidates interviewed well, but I can only choose two. Hardest still, one interviewee is a FRIEND. I can't play favorites. I really have to separate friendship from professionalism, but dude does have a big chance of grabbing the prize. I just have to let the overall facts convince me if he's best suited for the position. Let things speak for themselves.

Lord. This is my first real test as a supervisor. What if I choose unwisely? And in this economy, good jobs are hard to come by. This is someone's life at stake, possibly! Help me Lord! LOL

Ultimately, I'm grateful for this experience. It's not an obstacle I can't overcome. Usually I'm a good judge of character. As I'm getting ready this morning, I think I already know who I'm selecting, so I'm not gonna invest anymore worry than I have to.

Lord, I wasted an hour of my life last night watching this drivel. I thought, OK, I like Project Runway, this should be as equally good. Wrong!

Predictable. Predictable. Predictable. I should do a spoiler alert, but if you watch any reality TV show, usually the ethnic contestants get weeded out fairly quickly. Well, quelle surprise, the voted out one of the African American woman, Cotrice. Really? What the fuck!

I wasn't surprised but more irritated when other contestants, James and Nicolina, had some shitty-shit going on. Especially Nicolina. Her equipment didn't evoke that she put any effort in it, which she didn't. She even confesses she spent three hours on it her work. Uh-hmm. Whatever.

I'm over it. Doubtful I'll watch again.

Well, after careful consideration, BOA reversed its debit card fees. T-mobile you need to listen!

Hopefully, you've recovered from last night's sugar high. Did you get enough treats from your tricks? LOL. Jus' playin. Halloween was a non-event last night. I had only a handful of kids stop by. Guess snow and the cold kept people in doors.

This morning it's a brand new day, new month! November is one of my favorite months. When we have a normal fall, I thoroughly enjoy the gradual change in climate as Winter preps for it's entrance, holidays around the corner, that special time with people I care about. From All Saint's Day to Thanksgiving Day, November just brings a touch of "ahhhhhh" to my life....

Been a minute since I've seen a few of my friends and I've missed their company. Additionally, last night I was playin' Stupid Cupid, trynna convince a cohort to take his boo-boo out for brunch today since they're reaching a milestone in their relationship. Progress Report

I know it's only been a few days, less than a week, but I wanted to keep a progress report with my weight loss. With the exception of the first day, I haven't stepped on the scale again. that would be self-defeating. However, in just a few days, I can tell with the small changes I've made, it's made some difference.

I've endeavored to still to a 1,000 calories a day and get as much activity squeezed in as possible. It's kicking my ass a bit, but I keep thinking about the final reward...

Love Thoughts

Yesterday a friend asked me, innocently enough, if I was still single. Hmph. Still. I had to laugh because I understood what they were getting at. It's been a minute since I've stepped foot into the dating pool. Answering my friend, I told them simply I'm not ready. Their response? Of course, what am I awaiting for?

Hm. Interesting. What exactly am I waiting for? I'm getting older and life waits for no man. But I know the deficits I have and the things I need to work on before I enter a relationship with another person. I know I can be selfish. I'm set in my own ways. Plus I still carry too much baggage from the past that I'm constantly working on... So, no. I'm not ready. And yet....I have to admit fall makes me a bit nostalgic for love. Coming home to somebody. Spending time with that special someone, cuddlin' up, boo'd up in love.

Over the weekend I did the family thing with a friend and their son. We went out on a hay ride, picked pumpkins, went shopping for a Halloween costume for the boy, and finally out to dinner. It was nice. Very endearing. Looking back on that experience, yeah it warms my heart to what I could have if I get my act together. Maybe someday.... I just know that time isn't today.

For now, I'm just going to trust in the old phrase "All in good time."

On A New Path

This year has had it's challenges with my weight goals. I was doing well before summer came, and I fell hard. Since then I've been on a roller coaster, up down up down up down. I'm actually sick of it. Time to set things to right for once and for all.

Today started my quest to permanent weight loss and so far it's been OK? Drinking lots of water and watching my in-take. Yes I have a number goal. Not sharing yet. Not sharing all my intentions at the moment either. My only hope is that once all is said and done I can live with my decisions and feel happy. Only time will tell, I suppose...

Pride In The Neighbor

There are little moments where I have to stop and smile. Truly.

This morning on my way to work I caught a sight that you don't see too often in my neck of the woods. Two black men, in their 30's, holding hands, all boo'd up happily, without a care in the world, walking down the street.

Yes, it was a beautiful sight to see. And just when I had given up on open expression of romance here, at least for black men. I see more often with men of other races, but rarely with gay black men in Harrisburg.

This isn't the big city. This is central PA. Attitudes are strange around here. Not necessarily backwards, just conservative. I wouldn't be surprised seeing this in Philly, DC, New York, Atlanta, LA, wherever... Openly displaying same sex affection like that in my conservative, judgmental, one-horse town community? Wow.

All right y'all. I tip my hat. Yeah, I'm gonna hold on to that small moment all day.

God is always on time.

Sometimes I get myself in a funk or caught up in self-imposed challenges that I forget He's always there. I woke up kinda funky yesterday, not quite feelin' it, when I received a text from a friend that essential said to stop what I was doing, lift of my hands, and give praise and thanks to God.

I expressed to my friend that text was just right on time. From that moment it took me out of myself and reminded me to be thankful for things I have. I can't focus on the things I don't have. The best feeling in the world is when I'm connected to my real spirit!
